Salted Caramel and pretzel weren’t two flavors I’d pictured together before I tried them myself, but they work incredibly well together.
They are just so good especially when you swirl them in creamy ice cream.
And because no churn ice cream is so easy to whip up this salted caramel pretzel ice cream, you can treat yourself anytime you want to indulge in a bowl of creamy comfort- no ice cream machine needed!
It’s the perfect way to end any meal or a sweet way to cool off this summer.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Heavy cream– You cannot substitute a lower fat dairy product for this since you need the high fat for the texture.
- Sweetened condensed milk– Make sure you’re not using evaporated milk.
- Salted caramel coffee syrup – If you don’t have salted caramel, you can use plain caramel coffee syrup
- Caramel syrup– The ice cream topping
- Salt– Coarse sea salt
- Pretzels– Roughly crumbled
How to Make
This salted caramel pretzel ice cream is so easy to make!
Just add the whipping cream to the bowl of a stand mixture and whip it at medium speed with the whisk attachment until soft peaks form.
Gently stir in the condensed milk and caramel coffee syrup with a spatula until they are evenly incorporated.
Transfer the mixture to a standard metal loaf pan.
Top the ice cream mixture with the caramel syrup, the crushed pretzels, and salt.
Then use a butter knife to swirl the caramel syrup ribbon, the pretzels, and the sea salt through the ice cream.
Cover and freeze the ice cream for 8-10 hours or until frozen through.
Drizzle with additional caramel syrup when serving, if desired.
Enjoy!
Storing
Store any leftover ice cream in the freezer in an airtight, freezer safe container for up to a month.
Let the ice cream sit out on the counter for at least 15 minutes prior to serving so it is soft enough to scoop.
Tips and Tricks
- There is absolutely no substitute for the heavy cream. Your ice cream won’t set properly with light cream or half and half.
- If you don’t want to make the ice cream itself caramel flavored with the flavored coffee syrup you could just mix in a teaspoon of vanilla extract instead.
- Coarse sea salt is a must over table salt or more finely ground salts. Table salt has too much bite to it while the coarse sea salt will add just the right note of savory saltiness.
