Big Mac Sauce Recipe (McDonald’s Copycat)
This homemade big mac sauce recipe is a spot on copycat of the classic McDonald’s condiment. An easy, 5 minute recipe, this sauce makes a perfect addition to burgers, fries, and even salads!
While we often grill burgers and fix fries at home, my kids still go crazy for fast food burgers and french fries.
Not one to be easily offended, I mean come on- Mom craves a greasy cheeseburger from time to time too, I’ll happily indulge them every so often.
No matter how good the burgers and fries are by themselves, to really enjoy them, everyone always needs their favorite sauce.
If we’re talking about McDonald’s it’s definitely Big Mac sauce. My kids will literally pile fries on their burger just to make sure everything gets eaten with a bit of the magic condiment.
I feel like if only I could buy it by the bottle, then our at home burger nights would be complete.
While you can’t buy it by the bottle (yet- lookin’ at you McDonald’s), you can absolutely whip up my authentic Big Mac sauce recipe anytime a craving hits.
Trust me when I tell you, this McDonald’s copycat tastes just like the original!
Ingredients Needed
This secret sauce only requires a handful of easy ingredients.
To make it you’ll need:
- Mayonnaise – Good, old fashioned full fat mayo- I recommend Hellman’s. Do not substitute miracle whip.
- Relish – One of the key flavors comes from sweet pickle relish, NOT dill relish.
- Mustard – You’ll need yellow mustard, but can substitute Dijon mustard if that’s all you have on hand.
- Vinegar – A tiny bit of distilled white vinegar gives this sauce just the right amount of zip.
- Seasonings – Seasoning the sauce is a blend of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and white pepper.
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients it’s time to whip up this copycat big mac recipe.
How To Make
It only takes 5 minutes to whip up this authentic big mac sauce recipe. It doesn’t get any quicker than that!
Add all of the measured ingredients to a small mixing bowl.
Using a whisk mix everything together until the mixture’s smooth, creamy, and evenly incorporated.
That’s it! The secret sauce is done.
You can use it right away, or let it chill in the fridge and serve it cold.
How Long Does Big Mac Sauce Keep In The Fridge?
Since it’s mayonnaise based, big mac sauce must be refrigerated.
Leftovers, that have no touched food, will keep a week when refrigerated in an airtight container.
If you love it as much as we do, whip up a double or triple batch and have it to enjoy all week long!
What Can You Add Mac Sauce To?
While it’s great on burgers and for dipping fries, there are so many more possibilities when it comes to using this easy big mac sauce recipe.
We love using it with:
- Paired with fried fish or fish tacos
- Drizzled over a sausage & hashbrowns skillet for breakfast
- Served alongside fried chicken or chicken wings
- As a salad dressing
- A dip for sweet potato chips, or any other chip
TIPS & TRICKS
- Contrary to popular belief, big mac sauce does not include ketchup. It’s reddish/pink hue actually comes from paprika. Just a fun fact!
- You need to use a quality mayo for this recipe. I recommend using Hellman’s original, and Blue Plate as an alternate.
- Like so many recipes, the flavors in this sauce develop and deepen the longer it sits. If serving warm, I recommend letting it rest for 30 minutes first for best results. It’s not 100% necessary, but totally worth it.
- Don’t like any chunks in your dipping sauces? Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce before using.
