Pizza purists: listen up!
Step away from the pepperoni and be prepared to be mind blown.
Mac and cheese pizza is exactly the out of the box pizza experience that will convert even diehard pizza purists.
Who wouldn’t love layer upon layer of cheesy, carby goodness?
And because it combines so many family friendly foods, you can be sure everyone including the pickiest of eaters will eat this.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Macaroni and cheese– I recommend Velveeta shells and cheese but you could use your favorite kind of boxed macaroni or leftover homemade mac and cheese.
- Cheese sauce– Velveeta cheese works so well in this, but you could use homemade cheese sauce if you prefer.
- Pizza crust– 2 premade 12″ inch crusts.
- Olive oil– Extra virgin
- Cheddar cheese– Shredded
How to Make
To make this mac and cheese pizza, start by making the macaroni and cheese according to the directions on the package.
Then brush both pizza crusts evenly with olive oil using a pastry brush.
Spread the cheese sauce evenly out over the two crusts.
Then, top the sauced crusts with mac and cheese, spreading it out evenly.
Sprinkle shredded cheese out over both pizzas.
Bake at 450 for 7 to 10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Slice, serve and enjoy!
Can I use a homemade crust to make this pizza?
Yes!
We often use this Easy Homemade Pizza Dough recipe.
If you use homemade dough, you may need additional cook time.
How To Make A Simple Cheese Sauce
If you’d prefer to make a cheese sauce from scratch, or can’t find the single pouches of Velveeta cheese sauce in your grocery store, here’s how you do it.
Add 3-4 slices of American cheese & 1/4 cup of milk to a small pot or skillet.
Stir them together over low heat, just until melted and smooth.
Use this sauce in place of the pouch of Velveeta sauce.
How many pizzas does this recipe make?
This recipe makes 2 12″ pizzas.
You can half the recipe to make 1 if you prefer.
Other Toppings to Add to Mac and Cheese Pizza
- You can turn this into a pulled pork pizza. Just add your favorite barbecue sauce, pulled pork, diced red onion and fresh cilantro leaves.
- For a little veggie action, you could also add chopped steamed broccoli florets
- Other delicious additions are chopped rotisserie chicken and cooked bacon.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
Reheat the pizza in a hot oven until the cheese has melted again.
Tips and Tricks
- Any kind of boxed mac and cheese will work.
- If you are making homemade mac for this, avoid baked macaroni and cheese recipes. They tend to be not as creamy and a touch drier. As you will bake the pizza with the mac and cheese on it, this is not ideal.
- For extra cheesy goodness, get some extra cheese sauce to serve with the pizza for dunking purposes.

Happy Mothers Day Meaghan, wow would the kids love this. Their two favorite foods all in one dish.
Thanks, and a belated Happy Mother’s Day to you too! The sons felt the exact same way about this ‘pizza’. I love it when I can get them to think outside of the ‘box’ 🙂
Ditto, Suzanne! Both my kids would be all over this. Funny that just a couple of days ago, we had pizza and mac n cheese, but didn’t think of combining the two. Duh!
Welcome to Fiesta Friday, Meaghan! Having little ones to feed seems to be a catalyst for creativity. Here you did it successfully. Love it! Happy belated Mother’s Day to you!
Thanks, Angie! Glad I could be a part of it!! You’ve hit the nail on the head when it comes to the sons. One day they’ll like something, the next they swear they’ve detested it all their lives. Gotta get creative and shake things up. It’s fun keeping them on their toes 😉
So glad you managed to join us Meaghan! What an interesting dish this is – it is sure to go down very well at the party this week…
P.S. Your boys look adorable!!!

This pizza really rocks! I love Mac-N-Cheese and I love pizza (a lot), but I never tried putting them in one dish. This really amazed me, Meaghan. Thanks for giving us a great idea. 😀
We hope to see you on the next Fiesta Friday. 😉
Thanks! FF is an awesome party and I’m glad I can be a part of it 🙂 I love both pizza & pasta equally, so this recipe came straight from my happy place. See you Friday!
