Honey Roasted Red Potatoes
Honey roasted red potatoes are the perfect side dish for any number of meat dishes. This slightly sweet and savory potato recipe has a handful of ingredients and yields delicious results that pair well with roast chicken, beef or pork chops.
We are very much a meat and potatoes family.
My boys are big eaters and these things keep them satisfied long enough for me to sit down between feeding times.
While meat and potatoes are standard fare in our home, I do like to play with the flavors of those basics.
I will do all sorts of things to potatoes to get some variety out of our meals from Syracuse salt potatoes to roasted pesto potatoes.
These honey roasted red potatoes are another take on roasted potatoes with an addicting sweet and savory flavor combination that you will absolutely love!
Plus, they come together with little prep, making dinner a breeze.
Ingredients
For these sweet roasted red potatoes you need:
- small red potatoes
- extra virgin olive oil
- honey
- dried minced onion
- dried ground mustard
- salt and pepper
That’s it!
How to Make
Making this potato side dish is so easy!
To do it, start by washing and quartering your potatoes.
Then, add them to a large baking sheet.
Drizzle the prepared potatoes with olive oil and honey and then sprinkle them with the dried onion, mustard and salt and pepper.
Give them a quick toss to coat them evenly.
Then, pop the seasoned potatoes into a 450 degree oven for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, carefully remove the tray from the oven and gently turn the potatoes.
Once you’ve turned the potatoes, return them to the oven and bake them for an additional 15 minutes or until tender.
Remove them from the oven and let the potatoes rest for a few minutes prior to serving.
Storing and reheating
Store any leftover roasted potatoes in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat in the oven or by microwaving until warm.
The microwave will heat them up, but they won’t be as crispy as originally intended.
If you want to get that same crisp back, then go for the oven method.
Tips and Tricks
- Can’t find red potatoes? Feel free to substitute fingerling potatoes or other baby potatoes instead.
- Make sure the potato pieces are all roughly the same size so they cook evenly.
- There’s no need to peel these potatoes first.
What to Serve with Honey Roasted Red Potatoes
The flavors of these potatoes are fairly mild so the dish pairs well with a variety of meats. Some of my favorite mains to serve with this include:
- Meatloaf – a good meatloaf always needs some potatoes by it’s side! Try either of these: stove top stuffing mix meatloaf or bacon cheeseburger meatloaf.
- Chicken – this is another easy one, since like potatoes chicken is so versatile. We recommend: air fryer fried chicken, slow cooker Greek chicken breasts, or hard cider beer can chicken.
- Pork – we almost always serve our pork with some kind of carb, and these potatoes are just the thing. Consider these entre options: pork schnitzel, smothered pork chops, Instant Pot pork chops & gravy.
- Fish – fish is another excellent option for pairing with potatoes, especially certain varieties. We suggest buttery lemon pepper salmon or beer battered cod.
