What is guacamole salsa made of?

Guacamole salsa is basically a combination of salsa verde or tomatillos and guacamole ingredients.

The result is a heartier, creamier dip with all the zest of salsa verde and the creaminess of guacamole.

What is the difference between avocado salsa and guacamole salsa?

Guacamole salsa is thicker and creamier than avocado salsa.

Avocado salsa is more like pico de gallo with pieces of avocado added in.

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

    • Salsa verde– I use Herdez for the best copy of their dip. You could also use tomatillos instead to make the base of the dip.
    • Avocados– Ripe avocados with the skin and pits removed.
  • Jalapeno– Stemmed and seeded
  • Onion– Roughly chopped white onion
  • Garlic- Minced
  • Cilantro– A fresh bunch with the lower parts of the stems cut off
  • Lime– The juice of 1 lime

How to Make

Making guacamole salsa is a snap!

Just add all of the ingredients to a high powered blender and blend it until smooth and creamy.

Serve warm or chilled with chips.

Enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

I don’t recommend storing this for more than a day since the avocado will darken.

If you do have leftovers, scoop it into an airtight container and squeeze a little extra fresh lime juice on top to help prevent or slow browning.

Then seal the container and refrigerate it.

Tips and Tricks

  • Want really creamy dip? Add 1/4 cup sour cream for a creamier texture.
  • Adjust the heat level by adding more or less jalapeno.
  • Because this recipe uses fresh avocado, it will darken in color as it sits but much more slowly than fresh guacamole. The lime juice will help slow the browning.
