Dill Pickle Wrap Dip
Dill pickle wrap dip brings all the flavors of a ham and cheese sandwich loaded with pickles to a creamy appetizer. This recipe is perfect as a snack, on toast or as a starter your whole family will love.
Ham and cheese sandwiches are a lunch time staple around here.
And my whole family agrees on one thing: the more pickles on the sandwich the better.
We’re huge fans of pickles in everything from dill pickle grilled cheese to dill pickle potato salad.
So of course, this dip that takes all the flavors of our favorite sandwich and ups the pickle factor is a hit.
What is dill pickle wrap dip?
Never heard of a dill pickle wrap? They’re the best kind of appetizer or snack-y sandwich that doesn’t involve sliced bread.
Dill pickle wraps feature spears of crisp kosher dill pickles, slathered in lightly seasoned soft cream cheese, and wrapped with thin slices of sweet deli ham.
They can be served as is (whole) or cut into pinwheels for a fun finger food option.
We decided to skip the extra steps, few though they may be, and throw everything together in a mixing bowl instead.
This dip recipe is a delicious combination of equal parts chopped shaved ham and chopped dill pickles in seasoned whipped cream cheese.
It’s the perfect topping to crackers or a hunk of crusty bread.
How to Make
It couldn’t be easier to make this easy dip recipe!
There’s no cooking or chilling required. Which is pretty much the basis for any great appetizer or snack idea.
Just break out the hand mixer and whip the softened cream cheese and garlic powder until it’s smooth and fluffy.
Then use a spatula and fold in the chopped pickles and shaved ham.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, so don’t break your arm. Just stir until both additions are equally incorporated into the cream cheese mixture.
Give it a taste and season with salt and pepper to your taste.
Then serve it immediately and enjoy!
How to Serve
I like serving this recipe with crackers or crusty pieces of bread. But you could also serve it with other dippers like:
- cucumber slices
- carrot or celery sticks
- pretzels
- pita wedges
You could even serve this at brunch and spread it over a bagel.
The sons’ recommend using a toasted mini bagel if you’re going that route.
Storing
This dip is best immediately after making it. However, you can keep leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened before you try whipping it. To soften it, just let it sit out on your counter for about half an hour prior to making.
- Full fat cream cheese tastes the best in this.
- Adjust the garlic powder to suit your tastes.
