I have several fun Christmas appetizer cheese balls like this Christmas tree cheese ball. I also have sweet, dessert cheese balls like this adorable snowman cheese ball.

They are always a hit and I love to serve them at holiday parties. Sometimes though, I want a bit more variety.

These Christmas ornament cheese balls give you that variety with almost no extra work involved.

Cheese balls- An Entertaining MVP!

Cheese balls are one of my favorite entertaining tricks. I absolutely love serving them to guests for a few reasons.

First, they are absolutely delicious! What’s not to love about a cheese based appetizer?

Plus, they look fancy and impressive but are one of the easiest appetizers to make and serve.

And these Christmas ornament cheese balls let you serve 3 kinds of cheese balls quickly and easily! Comes across as super fancy, but is secretly so easy to do.

How to Make Christmas Ornament Cheese Balls

Making these cheese balls couldn’t be easier! To make them, put your cream cheese, beef, and chopped green onions into a large mixing bowl.

Use your hands to knead the ingredients until they are well combined. Yes, your hands!

While technically you can beat everything together in the bowl of a stand mixer, it doesn’t get as evenly mixed as I’d like.

The heat from your hands really helps soften the cream cheese as it mixes and gives a great uniform texture without any ingredients getting crushed in the process.

Once combined, roll the cheese into a large ball. After you have one large cheese ball formed, divide it evenly into 3 smaller balls.

The balls can be rolled right away, but I like to chill them really good first.

It makes them easier to work with and helps them hold their shape. About 30 minutes in the refrigerator is all they need.

Roll one in fresh, chopped dill, another in real bacon bits, and the last in pomegranate arils you have dried off. Place the 3 cheese balls on a serving tray.

Now you’re ready to decorate the Christmas ornament cheese balls and transform them from a plain jane trio of cheese balls into adorably festive holiday cheese balls.

To decorate them, cut 3 6 inch pieces of wire.

Roll one end halfway down with your fingers or a pencil so the wire curls.

Insert one wire into the top of each cheese ball and tie a ribbon around each wire. Then serve and enjoy.

What to Serve with Christmas Ornament Cheese Balls

I like to serve any savory cheese ball with a variety of crackers because you can’t beat cheese and crackers. But you could put out a variety of sliced veggies like cucumbers and carrot and celery sticks as well.

Other good dippers include:

  • pita wedges
  • small slices of French baguettes
  • pretzels
  • melba toast
  • mini naan bread
