Do you love Shamrock Shakes as much as me?

Every year as soon as they come out it’s all I can do not to immediately hit the drive through to order the minty treat.

With this copycat version, I don’t have to do that anymore and I can enjoy one of my favorites year round.

Just give a handful of easy to find ingredients a spin through the blender and you’ll be ready to go.

What is the flavor of a Shamrock Shake?

It’s the yummiest mint flavor imaginable!

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

an overhead image showing the measured ingredients needed to make two shamrock shake copycats

  • Ice cream– It can be hard to find plain mint ice cream so you can use vanilla. I don’t recommend mint chip in this because the McDonald’s version doesn’t have any chips.
  • Half and Half– This is a key ingredient to give you extra creaminess.
  • Milk– Use full fat milk if possible.
  • Mint extract– For the classic mint flavor.
  • Green food coloring– Optional as it doesn’t change the flavor but necessary to give you the green color.
  • Garnish– Whipped cream and maraschino cherries

How to Make

Making this is so easy!

Just throw all the ingredients except for the cherries and whipped cream into a blender and blend it until it’s smooth and creamy.

Then, pour it into two glasses and top each with whipped cream and a cherry.

Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • You can add more mint if you want a really strong minty flavor.
  • Since you are in control, if you want to customize this by adding chocolate chips or mint chip ice cream, you can. Just be aware that it will taste different from the McDonald’s version.
  • Adding more ice cream will result in a thicker shake, and more milk or half and half will result in a thinner one so you can adjust to your liking.
  • This recipe is easy to double so you can make enough for everyone!
