The hubs and I are pretty into gardening.
In our garden, we have all the standards- tomatoes, zucchini, herbs, beans….
But we take it just a touch further and have a bunch of fruit trees in our yard too including peach trees.
When our peaches are practically falling off the trees, I feel like I just can’t eat them fast enough so I am always looking for easy, yummy ways to use them up.
This Instant Pot peach jam recipe is one of my favorite ways to do that!
The result is a sweet spread perfect for slathering on toast or stirring into your morning oatmeal.
It’s so much tastier than any store bought jam you can buy and so easy to make!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Peaches– The recipe as written calls for frozen peaches, but you can absolutely use fresh peaches. Make sure if you do use fresh that you peel and cut the peaches up and remove the pit. You’ll also want to reduce the cook time to 1 minute.
- Honey– For sweetening. If you are looking to reduce the sugar in this, you can omit the honey totally. Just make sure your peaches are nice and ripe and sweet!
- Lemon juice– This helps preserve the fruit and thicken the jam.
- Vanilla extract– Use real vanilla extract for the best flavor.
How to Make
The Instant Pot takes all the fuss out of making anything including this jam!
To do it, make sure the liner is in your Instant Pot and then add all of the ingredients to the liner except the vanilla extract.
Stir to evenly combine.
Secure the lid on the pot and make sure the vent valve is set to the sealed position.
Then pressure cook the mixture for 2 minutes at HIGH pressure.
When the pot beeps, do a natural release for 15 minutes.
After that, carefully turn the valve to release any remaining steam.
Remove the lid.
Hit cancel and then hit the SAUTE button and set it on low for 15 minutes.
Sautee the jam, stirring frequently.
After the time is up, turn the pot off and stir in the vanilla extract.
The jam should be chunky, but if you’d prefer a smoother style jam- use an immersion blender and puree it right in the pot.
Let the jam cool slightly before serving, or store it in an airtight container for up to a week in the refrigerator.
Enjoy!
This batch was made in an 8 quart Instant Pot; however, we’ve also tested it in both the 6 & 3 quart version with equally successful results.
What should I serve this with?
While toast is the obvious answer this peach jam is so good with so many things. I particularly love using it by:
- slathering it on waffles or pancakes
- stirring it into yogurt
- spooning it on oatmeal
- drizzling over a scoop of ice cream
- topping cheesecake with it
Can I can this?
This recipe has NOT been tested for canning or long term storing.
Because of that, I would avoid canning due to the risk of botulism.
Can I freeze this?
Yes, you can store this in the freezer for up to 3 months in a freezer safe container.
I don’t have an Instant Pot. Can I still make this peach jam?
Yes!
No Instant Pot, no problem!
Just use a slow cooker and add everything as instructed. Then cook on low until the fruit has cooked down.
Tips and Tricks
- To make a savory, sweet heat version add a pinch of red pepper flakes just before you sauté the jam.
- You can double this recipe but a larger amount may take longer to cook down and thicken.
- Want the jam a little less chunky but not totally smooth? Give it a quick mash with a potato masher.
