Sriracha Honey Butter
Sriracha honey butter is an easy flavored butter that perfectly blends the sweetness of honey with the heat of Sriracha chili sauce. This creamy compound butter is the perfect compliment to grilled meats, seafood, or your morning slice of toast. Use it to infuse a bit of sweet heat into your favorite recipes!

Ever gone grocery shopping with your spouse, mostly because you just wanted to spend time with them, and then deal with them questioning every choice you make as you stick items into your cart?
No? Well, if you have then you know how supremely annoying it is- especially when you’re the sole person in charge of cooking all the things for the entire household. You trust the end results, so trust the process of how we get there even when the mystery is finally revealed.
My family (mostly my husband) swore that the newish sriracha red chili sauce was not something our household would ever enjoy. It’s a food trend, it’s too much heat, and we don’t eat that much hot sauce anyway.
Well over a decade later and it’s still the number one hot sauce in our refrigerator, with premium position on the condiment shelf and all. We’ve since found all the delicious things to do with it, including making a homemade honey sriracha butter.

This smooth and creamy compound butter is perfect for the Sriracha lover in your life and the unfamiliar alike. If, like me, you have an affinity for the perfect blend of heat and sweet, this has your name written all over it.
Spread it on your favorite meats, like a juicy steak or grilled chicken or even wings. Let a generous dollop melt over some seafood, like fresh crab or some flaky salmon. Add a pat to warm scrambled eggs or slather it on some toast and dig into breakfast.
It’s a delicious addition to any meal, and a simple way to infuse some sweet heat into your favorite foods- making for an irresistibly flavorful finish however you decide to enjoy it!

Ingredients Needed
To make it you’ll need:
- Butter – Two full size (1/2 cup) sticks of unsalted butter, softened to room temperature. Be sure to soften them before hand so that the butter whips up and incorporated the ingredients evenly.
- Honey – Two tablespoons of your favorite variety. Both store bought and locally sourced will work.
- Sriracha – Also known as hot chili sauce, can be found in the Asian/Oriental/International section of most grocery stores.
- Garlic – A handful of garlic cloves, minced. Fresh garlic cloves are a must for this recipe since the jarred minced garlic is often bitter in comparison.
- Salt – If sodium is a concern this can be omitted, but otherwise is recommended because it helps develop and deepen the other flavors.
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, you’re ready to whip up a batch of this simple compound butter!

How To Make Sriracha Honey Butter
Transforming plain, arguably still great, but boring butter something especially savory is actually surprisingly easy.
Start by adding all of the ingredients to the bowl of a stand mixer. Yes, all of them.
Whip them all together until everything’s evenly incorporated and the butter’s smooth and slightly fluffy, then set the mixture aside.
Tear off a large sheet of plastic wrap and lay it out flat on a clean countertop, or other large workspace.
Using a spatula, scrape all of the butter together and transform the lump to the center of the plastic wrap. Smooth it out a little into a rough log shape, then over lay the plastic wrap over top.
Roll the plastic wrap up snuggly around the butter and gently finish shaping it into a cylinder, then twist the ends up like you would on a piece of candy to seal it.
Tuck the ends under the butter log and put it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
Once the butter’s firmed up, it’s ready to be used (and enjoyed) however you see fit!

Ways To Enjoy Sweet And Spicy Compound Butter
One of my favorite things about this flavor infused compound butter is just how versatile it is.
You can pretty much slather it on anything and it’s going to, not only pair well but, really enhance the finished taste and give it a signature finish.
Some of our favorite things to enjoy it on include:
- Grilled Meats – Adds a savory finish to most grilled meats including steak, chicken, and salmon.
- Seafood – Shrimp, crab, lobster, scallops- the list goes on!
- Eggs – We love melting a bit over scrambled eggs, or even using it to fry a sunny side up egg in.
- Bread – Spread it on a slice of soft baguette, a crispy crostini, or add a schmear to a toasted bagel.
Have fun discovering all the delicious ways you enjoy using it, because you really can’t go wrong with any pairing!

Storing
This homemade sweet and spicy butter can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
While traditionally butter can be stored for much longer in the refrigerator, this version uses fresh garlic and other ingredients that add moisture and can increase the chances of spoilage.
Best to err on the side of caution!

Tips & Tricks
- Don’t forget to soften the butter to room temperature before trying to use it in the recipe. Soften butter is a must so that it whips up to a fluffy consistency and evenly incorporates the flavor enhancing ingredients.
- If you forget to soften the butter beforehand, do not try to melt it. Melted butter WILL NOT work.
- Only have salted butter? That’s ok, but skip adding the additional salt called for in the recipe.
- I recommend making this with a mixer, either in the bowl of a stand mixer or by using a sturdy mixing bowl and an electric hand mixer for the most uniform (and best tasting!) results.

You were right all along, who would have guessed?! The funny thing is I can’t take my hubby to the grocery store for the exact opposite reason. He doesn’t question what I am getting, but somehow the grocery bill always doubles when he is with me. Stuff he never knew he needed somehow magically appears in the cart! We just got a shared grocery list ap so he can help alert me when his lunch staples are low and now he occasionally takes it upon himself to pick up the things on the list while he is out. It makes me VERY nervous letting him venture into the store on his own!
Yeah, I’d be sweating bullets because I know my husband and he would come home with all kinds of snacks and candy. I’ve had to set a firm limit of two splurge purchases for him per grocery trip, lol. But it works!
Who knew these flavors work so well together. Awesome!
I am loving the sound of this recipe. :) Happy FF!
This is so perfect for a Srircaha lover like me. I have never heard of Sriracha butter, so I am glad that you introduced it to me. Thank you for sharing! :)
Am I the only one that noticed the garlic is in the ingredients list but not the recipe? I can’t tell if the garlic is accidentally left out of the recipe or accidentally added to the ingredient list…
I try to have my life together, but sometimes things get lost- the garlic gets blended in with everything else and is supposed to be in the recipe. Thank you for finding my error so I could correct the recipe card!
I need this in my life! Love it! Happy Throwback Thursday!
Mollie
It’s so yummy and I love how versatile it is.
So funny about shopping with your husband! My experiences are very similar!! This butter looks super awesome and I can’t wait to give it try. I love making my own butters, so I will have to give this one a go! Happy Fiesta Friday to you! :D
I need to make this right now! What an amazing butter idea :)
Thanks! It is so good, and I love how many different ways it can be incorporated into things.
