Frozen meatballs are a staple in our house.

You can make so many quick and easy meals with them from classics like spaghetti and meatballs to meatball sub sandwiches.

But I like to veer away from the Italian style dishes to give everyone some variety.

And these pub style meatballs with mushroom gravy are a perfect way to add some different flavors into your weekly menu.

I love them because they are quick to make and super yummy with their rich, beefy gravy.

The sons love them because they are filling and delicious over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Meatballs– Your favorite brand of frozen meatballs or even homemade meatballs that you’ve frozen. Just make sure you are using meatballs that have beef in them.
  • Butter– To saute the mushrooms in
  • Mushrooms– Sliced baby bellas. Can’t find them? Use sliced white mushrooms instead.
  • Flour– To make a roux.
  • Beef broth– The base for the rich gravy. Don’t substitute chicken or vegetable broth. It will change the flavor drastically.
  • Seasonings– Seasoned salt, thyme, garlic powder, and gravy master.

How to Make

These meatballs with mushroom gravy are super easy to make!

Just bake the meatballs according to the package directions.

While the meatballs are cooking, put together the gravy.

Start the gravy by melting the butter in a large skillet set over medium heat.

Once the butter has melted, stir in the mushrooms and cook them until they’ve softened.

When the mushrooms have softened and gotten golden, stir the flour into the skillet.

Cook for 60 seconds to cook off the ‘floury’ taste.

Then, whisk in the broth, one cup at a time.

Once you’ve added all the beef broth, stir in the seasonings and let the gravy simmer for 10 minutes to thicken.

When the meatballs are done, stir them into the skillet to coat them with gravy.

Serve warm over mashed potatoes and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

To reheat, add the meatballs and gravy to a large skillet on the stove.

The gravy may get very thick in the fridge so you may have to add some more beef broth to the gravy as you reheat it to get your desired consistency.
