A meatball parmesan skillet is an easy answer to dinner on a busy weeknight. In just 30 minutes, you can enjoy a bubbly, cheesy skillet perfect for serving on your favorite pasta or on crusty pieces of bread.

And I do it without sacrificing delicious results.
For example, this meatball parmesan skillet is so easy thanks to frozen meatballs and premade marinara sauce.
But it’s dressed up with some extra seasoning and tons of cheese so the result is mouthwatering and tastes totally homemade.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Meatballs– Use your favorite frozen meatballs. You could use Homemade Meatballs if you prefer, especially if you have some ready to go.
- Onion– Minced white onion
- Marinara sauce– Your favorite brand or Homemade Marinara Sauce
- Seasonings– Red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and fresh basil cut into ribbons
- Cheese– Shredded mozzarella. You can mix some parmesan or even provolone into this too if you’d like.
How to Make
This meatball parmesan skillet is so easy to make!
To do it, add the meatballs to a large, oven safe skillet over medium heat.
Cook them, stirring occasionally until they lightly brown on the outside.
Once they are brown, transfer them to a plate.
Then add the onion and red pepper flakes to the skillet you used to cook the meatballs.
Cook the onion, stirring often, until it softens.
Then add the marinara sauce, basil leaves, and garlic powder to the skillet with the onions.
Bring it to a simmer.
Once the sauce simmers, turn the heat down to low and let it keep cooking just until it thickens and reduces slightly.
At this point, add the meatballs back to the skillet and cook them just until they are warmed through.
Top them with cheese and pop them under the broiler until the cheese melts.
Serve and enjoy!

- Make sure to use an oven safe skillet. I prefer a cast iron skillet, so you don’t have to switch dishes in between the stove top and broiling.
- You could up the veggie factor by adding diced red or green bell peppers to the sauce as well.
- Watch the skillet carefully while it broils. The cheese can go from perfectly melted and golden brown on top to burnt in seconds.

Meatball Parmesan Skillet
Ingredients
- 28 oz frozen meatballs thawed
- 1/3 cup minced white onion
- pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/3 cup chiffonade basil leaves divided
- pinch garlic powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Add the meatballs to a large skillet, cooking and stirring just until lightly browned on the outside. Transfer them to a waiting plate.
- Add the onion and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook, stirring often, just until softened- about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the marinara sauce, basil, and garlic to the skillet, stirring until everything's evenly combined.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, and reduce heat to low and let it cook, stirring often, just until slightly thickened.
- Add the meatballs back to the skillet and let them simmer in the sauce just until heated through.
- Sprinkle the cheese evenly out overtop of the skillet, then broil just until the cheese has melted.
