Homemade Montreal steak seasoning is incredibly versatile and can be used on much more than just steak.

Aside from sprinkling it generously on steaks before grilling, pan searing, or broiling them you can also use it as:

  • A dry rub for burgers- Either rubbed on the patties, sprinkled on top, or even included in the ground beef mixture itself.
  • To season chicken breasts, thighs, or wings or pork chops, tenderloin, or ribs.
  • As a seasoning for potatoes, broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms or green beans before cooking
  • To mix into ground beef for meatloaf or meatballs.
  • To stir into sour cream or Greek yogurt for an easy dip.

Tips and Tricks

  • For steaks, a good rule of thumb is about 1 tablespoon of seasoning per pound of meat, adjusting to your taste.
  • Let the seasoning sit on the meat for 15 to 30 minutes before cooking so the flavors have time to penetrate the surface.
  • This recipe makes about 3/4 cup of seasoning.
  • The beauty of homemade spice blends is you can adjust any of the seasonings to suit your exact tastes.
