I like coffee. A lot.
I have kind of gone back and forth about my coffee addiction.
I mean, adoration.
In the past, I occasionally felt too dependent on caffeine and tried hard to wean myself off.
When I got pregnant, I pretty much gave up coffee completely.
And then I had a newborn and – WHAM! – I was back to my old ways.
Hello, caffeine.
I love you so hard. I need you in my life.
Unfortunately, though my youngest is now well beyond his baby days, my coffee habit remains in full force.
Because I drink so much of it, and my hubs is pretty much the same way, we go through a ton of creamer.
We can easily go through two bottles of the stuff in a week (don’t judge us).
At $3 or more a pop, that’s over $24 per month on coffee creamer.
So, it’s no wonder I took a stab at making my own.
If you’re hooked on store-bought creamer and looking to save a few bucks then today’s your day.
This homemade French vanilla coffee creamer is luscious and so much more affordable than store bought.
Ingredients
To make this you only need a few ingredients:
- Sweetened Condensed Milk– Either homemade or store bought.
- Milk or cream– Whole, lowfat, skim, almond, soy, heavy cream, half & half, it is based on your preference. Keep in mind the more fat = the creamier it will be.
- Vanilla extract– Use real vanilla extract for best flavor.
How to Make
Making this couldn’t be easier! It’s so easy you’ll wonder why you ever bought coffee creamer from the store in the first place.
To do it, just add all the ingredients to a mason jar and secure the lid.
Then give the jar a good shake to combine everything.
That’s it! You’re done!
How long does homemade coffee creamer last?
Make sure you check the expiration date on your milk first.
If your milk will still be good, your creamer will last in a sealed jar in your fridge for 7 to 10 days.

Love Love Love!!! I absolutely love homemade creamers! That way I KNOW how much sugar is in there and I can control the fat content as well! Also there is none of the nasty stuff like HFCS in there!! 🙂
Oh boy I love this!! Thanks for posting it. I will have to try all those different flavors.
What a brilliant idea, and love all the flavour ideas too, thanks!
I’m also a biiig coffee drinker. I love all the variations you have here, can’t wait to try some!
Wow – first I was amazed to see how easy it was to make and then I saw your list of flavours and was blown away! Thanks for bringing these to the party – Happy Fiesta Friday to you!
Nothing is more amazing than waking up to the smell of coffee! Agree, Meaghan? When I was a huge coffee drinker, it’s like my life depends on coffee. But a day came that coffee turned into teas. I completely stopped drinking coffee. 😐
Coffee lovers would LOVE LOVE this homemade coffee creamer of yours! And you amaze me with all the flavors that you have provided. So brilliant, Meaghan!
Have a fab weekend and happy FF to you! <3
Wow! What fun- so much better than store-bought 🙂
Wow! I take my coffee black but so many of my readers LOVE cream and flavorings in theirs. I pinned it to my Coffee! pinterest board. Thanks so much for sharing this post at Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop. Hope you’ll come back again!

Wow this is amazing! Can’t wait to try them out! I’ll gonna save this one.
I love your coffee creamer recipes. My husband and I drink coffee/ iced coffee a lot. Your recipes have saved on the cost of buying creamers. I make your vanilla, peppermint patty, and Samoa creamers.
I made it for the first time this weekend. It’s delicious! I try to track my intake, I see the nutrition facts but I don’t see what a serving is considered.. like 2 tablespoons per serving? Thanks for the input.
So glad you enjoyed it, Jennifer! The serving size is listed in the top of the recipe card- a whole batch yields about 20 servings, depending on how much or how little creamer you enjoy- roughly 1 1/2 tablespoons. Hope that helps!
I too am an admitted “coffeeholic” and tried giving up creamer, but wasnt successful in shaking this demon nectar. THANK YOU for this recipe!!! I made the recipe, but went a step further and added some Torani caramel sauce – coffee house flavor; which of course took it over the top. YUM!!
This is a great base recipe, and I’m happy to see you made it your own! At least the homemade stuff is cheaper, and in the long run better for you and better tasting 🙂
My husband loves this! Thank you for the recipe 😀
1 3/4 cup=14 oz. so ,empty can then refill. easy past.
Made this for my husband, he really liked it! I will continue to make for him.
Thanks for sharing!!
I found that the taste of the alcohol based vanilla came off strongly in the recipe, I just popped it in my stove top and brought to a boil to burn it off! I also added nutmeg at that stage because you suggested adding dry ingredients then! Perfection! Thanks!
I am going to try this..but have a question could you use the shelf save box milk.? Has anyone tried that..we live in an RV and our Refrgierator is small and dont have the room plus it goes bad becuae we dont drink milk that much.
Would love if you shared more flavors of your coffee creamers please, thank you
I plan on it, Debbie 🙂 Look for them in the Fall!
I made this morning using half chocolate milk and half cream & for the flavoring I did vanilla and maple extract
Yummy!
Homemade creamer is so yummy and you know what goes into it . 3 ingredients not some you can’t pronounce. 🫶🏼
It’s also easy to customize into a variety of flavors!
Oh my this is by far the best vanilla creamer I ever had. I stopped buying it because of your recipe! I’ll never go back! Ohhhh sooo goood!!!
I made this French Vanilla Coffee Creamer for my husband’s morning coffee and he really liked it. I loved it’s flavor and I liked knowing and tasting what the actual ingredients are. It’s less sweet and never cloying like some store-bought French Vanilla Coffee Creamers. I made it with heavy cream which gave a rich and creamy product. thanks so much.
My son Absolutely LOVES this!
I don’t buy the store bought version any longer. I do add an extra teaspoon of vanilla.
