These easy fried Oreos bring everyone’s favorite fair food right into your own home. This classic carnival dessert needs only 3 ingredients and is made in the convenience of your air fryer in your own kitchen. Ready in under 15 minutes, this nostalgic treat is fun for the whole family anytime of the year!

My family and I look forward to our State fair coming to town every year. It’s always a great time together.
The people, the rides, the games, but most of all the food! Is there anything better than fair food?
Everywhere you go, pretty much on every corner, is a variety of some of the most tasty treats. Funnel cake, cotton candy, fresh squeezed lemonade, boiled peanuts, etc. The options are virtually endless.
One of our family’s favorite State fair foods though is the absolutely delectable culinary treat that’s the fried oreo.
This sweet invention features a slightly melted, extra gooey oreo cookie center wrapped in deep fried pastry dough that’s finished off with a dusting of powdered sugar. It’s a must have experience on any carnival bucket list!

Sadly the fair only comes around once a year and that just isn’t enough to enjoy this irresistable treat.
Luckily for me, and now for you, we’ve learned how to recreate the classic carnival recipe at home where we can get our fix whenever the craving strikes, anytime of the year.
This state fair style fried oreos recipe really nails the deliciousness of the classic treat, but without the mess of battering and deep frying.
Made with refrigerated crescent roll dough and baked in the convenience of your air fryer, this indulgent dessert will give you all the tasty fair food vibes. The only thing missing will be the rides!

Ingredients Needed
Making state fair style fried oreos at home is surprisingly simple, and only requires a handful of easy ingredients to come together.
To make them, you’ll need:
- Oreos – The classic chocolate Oreo cookie. You can use the regular version, or double the ooey, gooey cream center by using double stuff oreos.
- Crescent Roll Dough – Refrigerated, canned crescent roll dough. You can use either name brand or the store brand, whichever you prefer; however, for the best results use the original recipe and not a reduced fat variety.
- Powdered Sugar – For dusting. This is an optional ingredient, but the simple powdered sugar finish really makes this simple dessert shine.
Once you’ve gathered all of your ingredients, you’re ready to begin!
How to Make
This carnival treat is so easy to make!
Start by spreading the crescent roll dough onto a clean, flat work surface then press the perforated lines together to seal them so it becomes one big sheet of dough.

Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces using a sharp knife.
Take one piece of dough and put an Oreo in the center of it.
Fold the Oreo into it by rolling the corners of the dough up over the cookie and pressing together any gaps. Repeat this process with the remaining cookies and dough.
When you’ve got all the Oreos folded into the dough, put the Oreos into the basket so they don’t touch. You may have to work in batches, depending on the size of your fryer.

Air fry the dough wrapped oreos at 320F for 5-6 minutes, or until the outside of the dough is golden brown and puffy.
Once this happens, transfer the fried oreos onto a waiting cooling rack and dust them with powdered sugar. Repeat this with all the Oreos.
Let them cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Can I Use Other Flavors of Oreos?
I know this recipe calls for classic ‘double stuff’ oreos, but there are so many options out there to choose from.
For an authentic copycat, stick with the classic flavor of Double Stuff oreo cookies. You won’t be disappointed.
For a delicious new spin on the nostialgic treat, try making them with either the golden, birthday cake, or mint flavored variety.
You do you, and find the flavor combination that works best for your personal preferences. These fair style fried oreos are easily accommodating for whichever flavor you enjoy most!

Storing Leftovers
If you have any leftover fried Oreos, you can store them in an air tight container, or ziplock bag, on your counter for up to 3 days.
You can pop them back in the air fryer for a minute or two to reheat them if you want to enjoy them warm or eat them as is.
I recommend this option though as the crust tends to soften while refrigerated. The air fryer will crisp it right back up, and also melt the cream filling at the same time.

Tips and Tricks
- This recipe makes 8 air fryer fried oreos, and the indicated serving size is two each.
- While you may have to work in batches due to the size of your air fryer basket, you can easily double or triple this recipe to feed a crowd.
- Go for the original crescent rolls or the butter flavored ones here, but avoid using any that are labeled as ‘reduced fat’ or ‘fat free’. The consistency in those dough’s is different and they won’t cook correctly.
- We recommend pinching all the seams together and cutting the large dough sheet into 8 equal squares; however, you can use the dough as is by cutting into 8 triangles along the perforated lines if you prefer. When ready to prepare add a cookie to the widest end, then roll up and around squeezing the dough as necessary until it’s the cookie’s completely covered and the dough around it’s sealed.
- Don’t stretch the dough too thin when covering the cookies or it will break.
- Use a fine mesh sieve, or sifter, to spread the powdered sugar so it’s a fine mist instead of clumpy. This will lead to more even covered, and also prevent too much sugar from dumping onto a single cookie.
- Sprinkle the powdered sugar out over the fried oreos while they’re still warm so that it sticks better.

Do you have a cookbook?
I love that they are air fried so they are healthier. But what texture is the oreo cookie after fried? Is it still crunchy or soft like traditional deep fried?
It softens up just like in the traditional version!
