To make this, you’ll need:

  • Sour cream– Use full fat sour cream for the best taste.

How to Make

To make this, spread the sour cream in a disposable 9×13″ foil pan (affiliate).

Smoke the sour cream at 180 degrees for 30 minutes.

Then remove the sour cream from the smoker and let it cool to room temperature.

Once it reaches room temperature, add it along with the remaining ingredients to a blender (affiliate) and blend until smooth.

Serve as is or refrigerate it until chilled.

How to Use Smoked Cilantro Lime Crema

You can put this on anything you would put non smoked cilantro lime crema on.

We like it on:

  • grilled chicken
  • tacos
  • grilled steak
  • burritos
  • shrimp skewers
  • nachos

Or add it to a hot dog along with pickled onions and fiesta blend cheese for a tasty Tex Mex style dog.

And of course you could always dunk tortilla chips into any leftovers!

Storing leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for no more than 3 days.

Tips and Tricks

  • Want it spicier? Double the jalapenos or add in a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mix.
  • Make sure you rinse the cilantro well before using it. Sometimes cilantro has a gritty sand on it.
  • This is a recipe where you really need to use fresh garlic and lime juice instead of garlic powder and bottled lime juice.

Other Smoker Sauces and Dips

Smoked cilantro lime crema is a fabulous way to take the Tex Mex sauce to the next level. Make it and enjoy!
