One of the most fun parts about holidays with kids is going all out on the theming.

It’s basically a way for me to play with my food while being a good mom.

Winning, right?

And for Halloween that means all the spooky fun foods like Monster Burgers or these mummy dogs.

They need just a few easy ingredients and a quick prep and you’ll be well on your way to dishing up a boo-tiful dinner your kids will love.

Ingredients

To make these you need:

  • Cresent dough– Either homemade or the kind in the can that you can find in the refrigerated section.
  • Hot dogs– Use your favorite brand of hot dogs.
  • American cheese– Totally optional. If you decide to use it, cut the sliced cheese into quarters.
  • Cooking spray– To help the dough brown
  • Ketchup or mustard– To make mummy eyes.

How to Make

Mummy dogs are so easy to make it’s scary!

To do it, unroll the cresent roll dough.

Press it together at the perforations to seal it into one large rectangle.

Cut the rectangle into ten ‘bandages’.

Stretch the bandages a bit to elongate them.

Wrap one bandage around one hot dog and 1 quarter of cheese.

Repeat for each hot dog.

About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate the bandages so that the hot dog shows through to make a mummy hot dog face.

Place the wrapped hot dogs cheese side down onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Spray the dough lightly with cooking spray.

Bake at 375 for 13 to 17 minutes or until the dough is light golden brown and the hot dogs are hot.

Take the hot dogs out of the oven and carefully use your mustard or ketchup to draw faces on your mummies.

Serve and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • It’s ok, and even preferred, if the bandages are slightly inconsistent and messy. It will look more like a mummy that way.
  • Don’t skip spraying the mummy frankfurters with cooking spray. The cooking spray helps the dough turn golden.
  • Serve these with ketchup, mustard, cheese, or chili for dipping.
