When my boys were little, yogurt melts were their favorite thing ever.

I’m pretty sure that’s how they intook about 95 percent of their food.

Ok, maybe not that much, but they were always eating them.

However, I always wished I could find other flavors than the mixed berry and banana flavors that were the most readily available.

I also wished they didn’t have a bunch of other ingredients in them.

So, I learned how to make my own homemade yogurt melts.

This let me play with different flavors and ensured there were no strange ingredients.

And my kids loved them just as much- if not more- than the store bought kind.

Yogurt melts are a popular snack for babies and toddlers though people of any age can enjoy them!

They are dehydrated dollops of yogurt that you don’t have to refrigerate and melt away in your mouth, making them safe for little ones.

Making homemade yogurt melts is pretty easy!

To do it, mix the yogurt, cornstarch, and sugar together in a small mixing bowl until they are full combined.

In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites and cream of tartar together with a hand mixer until the mixture thickens and holds its shape.

Gently fold the yogurt mixture into the whipped egg whites.

Use a spoon or put the yogurt mix into a piping bag and make small dollops of yogurt on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving just a little bit of space between each melt.

Bake them for 30 to 40 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown on the bottom.

Take them out of the oven and let them cool on the pan for 15 minutes.

Enjoy them right away or store them for later.

How to Store Homemade Yogurt Melts

Store homemade yogurt melts in a ziplocking bag or sealed container on your counter or pantry for up to 2 weeks.

I do not recommend refrigerating them or freezing them since they will get sticky.

Tips and Tricks

  • You can use any flavor of yogurt you like. I’ve done this with both strawberry yogurt and plain yogurt.
  • To make sure this works well, you may want to remove any large pieces of fruit of from flavored yogurt.
  • You can use any size icing tip up to size 10 to make the dollops. The mixture doesn’t hold its shape well so even a small tip will work.
  • I recommend using a piping bag instead of a spoon to distribute the mixture. It’s much easier.
  • When you fill the piping bag, hold up the tip a little bit to make sure the mixture doesn’t drip out.
  • If you are making these for a child under 1, do not use any yogurt with honey.
