Grilled Steak Kabobs With Spicy Mustard Sauce
Grilled steak kabobs with spicy mustard sauce are a delicious grilled entree perfect for any cookout! These steak skewers feature tender sirloin strung with new potatoes, onions, and mushrooms for a complete meal made more fun on a stick!
When my kids were younger, I could convince them to eat almost anything if it was on a stick.
Or skewer or kabob of some variety.
And when I served any type of kebabs be it chicken or beef, they would call them meat lollipops.
It sort of stuck and, though they are older now, they still get excited to eat meat on a stick.
But since they are older, we can be a little more adventurous with our choices and serve meals like grilled steak kabobs with spicy mustard sauce.
The basic steak kabob is simple ingredients of sirloin and veggies grilled to perfection, but it’s the simple spicy mustard sauce that kicks this meal up a notch.
Both in the flavor and adventure department!
And they love it and so do I since it’s easy and oh so delicious.
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Olive oil– Preferably extra virgin
- Sirloin steak– Cut into equal cubes
- Salt and pepper– To taste
- New potatoes– Small ones
- Onions– Cipollini onions or another smaller variety.
- Mushrooms– Cremini but you could sub white or baby portabella. Just make sure to wash them well.
- Mustard sauce ingredients– Steak sauce and spicy mustard
How to Make
These steak kebabs with spicy mustard sauce are fairly easy to make.
Start by adding the potatoes to a a pot and covering them with water.
Bring the potatoes to a boil and cook for 10-12 minutes or just until tender.
As soon as they are tender, strain the potatoes and run them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
While the potatoes are cooking, boil a second pot of water.
Add the onions to the second pot and cook them for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, strain the onions and let them cool enough so you can safely handle them.
Then use a tea towel to rub the skins off.
Discard the skins.
Now assemble the kebabs by threading the steak cubes, cooled potatoes, cooled onions, and mushrooms onto skewers, alternating as you go.
Fill a shallow bowl or dish with oil and turn each skewer in the oil to completely coat it.
Then season them generously with salt and pepper.
In a small bowl add the steak sauce and spicy mustard, whisk together until evenly combined.
Brush this sauce evenly out over all of the prepared skewers.
Grill the skewers for 12 – 14 minutes, turning every couple of minutes, until the meat and veggies are tender.
Serve with extra spicy mustard steak sauce for dipping.
