As we shift from using the grill, and move firmly into oven and crockpot territory, I love meals that let the slow cooker do all of the heavy lifting.
This crockpot honey garlic chicken recipe is one of those.
It’s easy to throw together and slow cooking the chicken infuses it with this sauce.
This sauce will have you smackin’ your lips and licking your plate clean.
Shamelessly.
Serve it over a warm bed of freshly cooked white rice, and make sure to ladle a generous scoop of sauce overtop the honey garlic chicken.
Because, this sauce.
So good.
Ingredients
To make this, you’ll need:
- Chicken thighs– I use boneless, skinless thighs in this. You could substitute chicken breasts if you prefer.
- Garlic– Fresh garlic cloves minced or pressed.
- Honey
- Ketchup-– You can use low sodium if you prefer.
- Soy sauce– Feel free to use low sodium or keep it gluten free by using tamari instead.
- Spices and garnish– Dried oregano, fresh parsley, and toasted sesame seeds
How to Make
This is such an easy dinner to make! It’s perfect for any busy day.
To do it, add the chicken thighs to the bottom of the crockpot.
Whisk together the minced garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, oregano and parsley in a medium sized bowl to make the sauce.
Then, pour the sauce over the chicken thighs.
Cover the crockpot with its lid, and cook for 6 to 7 hours on LOW, or 4 to 5 hours on HIGH.
Remove the lid and transfer the cooked chicken to a serving plate.
Spoon the sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
Serve the chicken over a bed of white rice.
Enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
I like to store leftovers in the inner part of my slow cooker.
Just cover it with its lid and pop it in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
When you are ready to reheat, heat it right up in the slow cooker on high for an hour until the chicken is warm.
Tips and Tricks
- To add a little heat, add a pinch of chili flakes or a tablespoon of sriracha.
- For extra freshness, squeeze in a little lime.
- To round out the meal, I like pairing it with rice and steamed broccoli.
