Fresh Blackberry Lemonade
Blackberry lemonade is a refreshing way to beat the summer heat. This tart, berry flavored sip will you cool off, quench your thirst, and treat you to some of summer’s finest flavors.

I crave an ice cold glass of the lemonade whenever the heat arrives.
And since we are in the South when the heat shows up, it sticks around.
That means I drink lemonade almost daily for at least half the year.
This version of our blackberry lemonade is my favorite new twist on the classic.

The resulting lemonade is simple, sweet, tart, and gorgeously pink.
It’s my new favorite summer sipper and bound to be yours as well, especially if you love blackberries.

Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Simple syrup ingredients– Equal parts water and granulated sugar
- Lemon juice– Fresh squeezed is best but store bought will work.
- Blackberries– Fresh are best.
- Water
- Mint leaves– Optional for garnish.

How to Make
This blackberry lemonade is so easy to make!
Start by by combining the cup of sugar and the cup of water in a small pot on the stove.
Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar, stirring occasionally.
When the sugar dissolves, pull the simple syrup of the heat and let it cool completely.
Once the simple syrup has cooled, puree the blackberries and lemon juice together a blender until the blackberries have pureed.
Strain the mixture by pouring it over a mesh colander into a clear pitcher.
Stir the water into the pitcher.
Add simple syrup, to taste.
Serve over ice, or chilled, and garnish with mint leaves and a blackberry.
Enjoy!

Can you make a blackberry lemonade cocktail?
Yes!
Sometimes nothing is better in the summer than sitting outside sipping on a refreshing cocktail.
To spike this lemonade, pour yourself a glass and add a shot vodka (either blackberry or plain) or limoncello.
Some white rum or tequilla would also give your drink an extra summery touch.

Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in a pitcher in the fridge for up to a week.

Tips and Tricks
- Stir the sugar and water mixture while the simple syrup is heating to prevent the sugar from burning.
- Don’t skip straining the blackberry puree. You have to strain it to remove the seeds and any bits of blackberry that didn’t puree.
- The amount of simple syrup you add depends on how sweet you like your lemonade. I recommend starting with half and then tasting it to see if it’s sweet enough. If not, add more.

Healthy lemonade
We think so :) Gotta get those antioxidants in!
My very first blackberry just ripened!! (I have waited 2 years for a darn berry!) This is the perfect recipe to use when the rest of the blackberries are ready! Perfect for summer, too! What a great recipe and awesome pix!
Thanks, Lisa! We like it, and it’s our favorite way to use up blackberries. We don’t grow our own, but I find great deals on them at the local farmer’s market when they’re in season.
Hi Meaghan, I LOVE lemonade so I’m really loving this recipe. Thank you for bringing this lemonade to FF, have a good weekend!
