Southern Coffee Punch Recipe
Southern coffee punch is a sweet coffee drink for a group. Scoops of ice cream and fluffy whipped cream sit on top of a punch bowl of a cold coffee. Perfect for parties and brunches!
Brunch occasions call for more options than mimosas.
And this Southern coffee punch is the perfect option to add to any brunch menu.
We’re talking sweetened cold coffee topped with scoops of vanilla and chocolate ice cream and whipped cream.
It’s a decadent treat for a special occasion like Easter or Mother’s Day.
And it’s so easy to make that you won’t be adding a ton of prep to add this special touch.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Sugar– Some for the simple syrup and some for the homemade whipped cream
- Water– For the simple syrup
- Heavy cream– Some for homemade whipped cream and some to stir directly into the coffee itself
- Coffee– Cold coffee or cold brew from the grocery store to save time
- Ice cream– Both chocolate and vanilla though you could use all of one flavor or the other.
- Chocolate– For topping
How to Make
Southern coffee punch is very easy to make.
To do it, start by making the simple syrup by boiling a quarter cup of sugar and water together in a small sauce pan until the sugar dissolves.
Once the sugar dissolves, set the simple syrup aside to cool.
Then make the whipped cream by beating together a cup of heavy cream with the remaining quarter cup of sugar until stiff peaks form.
Set the whipped cream aside while you assemble the punch.
In a large punch bowl, stir together the cold coffee and 2 cups of heavy cream.
Once the coffee and heavy cream are combined, stir in the simple syrup.
Then scoop the ice cream into the punch bowl, stirring to combine.
Ladle the coffee punch into cups and top each cup with a dollop of homemade whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Because the ice cream will melt, the coffee punch will not save well.
If you think you will make less than 16 servings, I recommend dividing the recipe in half.
Tips and Tricks
- You can make the simple syrup ahead of time and just assemble the coffee punch right before serving.
- If you don’t want to make homemade whipped cream, you can use store bought whipped cream or whipped topping instead.
- Feel free to use any flavor of ice cream you like paired with coffee. Other yummy options would be caramel, hazelnut, or even cookies and cream.
