Easy holiday desserts are my love language.

And no I don’t mean things like baking a pie.

I mean things that require no baking skills whatsoever.

Like turning storebought pecan pies into pecan pie truffles.

This is the perfect dessert for novice bakers and cooks since there is no actual baking or cooking needed.

Just pop storebought pies into a stand mixer to form a sticky cookie dough consistency, shape them into balls, and dip them in melted chocolate.

Then you are good to go and have a dessert to bring to the holiday gathering.

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Pecan pies– 2 store bought pecan pies. I found my pies at Walmart and they were 8″ each and roughly 1 pound 7 ounces a piece.
  • Melting chocolate– White chocolate melting disks. You could also use almond bark or candy melts.
  • Pecans– Chopped for garnish

How to Make

Pecan pie truffles are so easy to make!

Just take the pie tins out of the ovens and break them apart so they fit in the bowl of your stand mixer.

Fit the stand mixer with the paddle attachment and turn it on.

Let the stand mixer beat the pies on low for about a minute or until only small bits of crust are visible and the pies are a cookie dough consistency.

Scoop out one tablespoon at a time and roll each tablespoon of pie into a ball.

Put the pie ball on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Repeat until you’ve used all the pie up.

Put the balls in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to let them firm up.

After 30 minutes, melt the white chocolate in 30 second increments in the microwave, stirring after each interval.

The chocolate is done when it is smooth.

Dip a truffle in the melted chocolate and scoop it out using a candy spoon or fork to let the excess chocolate drip off.

Put the truffle on the parchment lined sheet and immediately sprinkle it with chopped pecans.

Repeat this until you’ve done all the truffles.

Refrigerate the truffles for 10 minutes to set the chocolate.

Serve and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure to melt the chocolate in 30 second increments and stir after each time. You’ll know the chocolate is done when you stir it and it looses it’s shape. Do not microwave it past that point or it will burn and seize.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to portion out the truffles.
  • The pecans for garnish may also be called pecan chips, crushed pecans, or pecan pieces. You want them roughly the same size as crushed peanuts.
