How To Make Homemade Breakfast Sausage Patties
Homemade breakfast sausage patties are so easy to make, needing only ground pork and a simple spice blend. Skip the store-bought sausage while making breakfast exactly the way your family likes it!

You’d never know how easy it is to make your own breakfast sausage.
It’s one of those things that just seems like it should be hard but it’s actually as easy as making meatballs or burger patties just with ground pork and spices.
This homemade sausage is savory, juicy, and packed with herbs and warm spices you can easily adjust the seasoning to make it more or less bold.

It’s also pound for pound less expensive to make your own sausage than it is to buy premade sausage patties.
You can make a big batch and freeze the cooked patties for quick breakfasts later, which is especially helpful when mornings are hectic and everyone seems to be hungry at the same time.

Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Ground pork– I used lean ground pork for leaner sausage, but you can use full fat ground pork if that’s your preference.
- Fennel seeds– Crush them with a mortar and pestle or a coffee grinder.
- Other spices– Ground sage, onion powder, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper

How to Make
Homemade breakfast sausage is surprisingly easy to make!
Just use your clean hands and mix all of the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until evenly combined.
Shape the mixture into 10-12 equal-sized patties and transfer them to a wax paper lined plate.
Cover the plate of sausage patties and chill them in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Fry the patties in a large skillet over medium/high heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
Put the cooked patties onto a waiting paper towel lined plate to drain off any excess grease.
Repeat until all the patties have been cooked.
Serve warm and enjoy!

Storing
Store leftover sausage patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat them on the stove top or in the microwave until they are warmed through.

Tips and Tricks
- Fry the patties, in batches so you don’t overcrowd the pan.
- If you use full fat pork, the seasoning ratios stay the same.
- You can adjust the seasonings to suit your taste.
