How to Make
Making this copycat Chick Fil A spicy deluxe sandwich recipe at home is pretty easy.
Start by whisking together the buttermilk, hot sauce, pickle juice, paprika, garlic powder, and salt in a large bowl to make a marinade.
Add the chicken, turning to coat it.
Cover it and refrigerate it for 30 minutes to an hour.

After the chicken has marinated, make the breading by stirring together the flour, powdered sugar, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and salt in a shallow bowl.
Then bread the chicken by removing one piece of chicken from the marinade, using tongs.
Let the excess marinade drip off and then dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, pressing it in to coat it.
Set the breaded piece of chicken aside on a plate while you repeat this with the other pieces of chicken.

Once all the chicken is breaded, heat 1 to 2 inches of oil in a large skillet to 350 degrees.
When the oil is at temperature, fry each piece for 3-4 minutes per side or until each piece is golden brown and cooked through to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
Transfer the fried chicken to a paper towel lined plate while you cook any remaining chicken pieces.

Once all the chicken is fried, put a slice of pepper jack cheese on each hot chicken breast so it melts slightly.
Then build the sandwiches by spreading mayonnaise or Chick Fil A sauce on the bottom bun followed by pickles.
Put the chicken with the melted cheese on top of the pickle and top that with lettuce and tomato.
Close the sandwich, serve, and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers
The sandwiches themselves are best served fresh and tend to get soggy if you store them after they are assembled.
However, you can store the leftover chicken in a separate airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat it in the air fryer or oven at 375°F for 5–7 minutes to stay crispy.
