Herbed buttered noodles are one of those lifesaver meals.

It was one of the sons’ favorite foods and most requested lunches whenever visiting their grandma’s house.

And because they are so easy and use basic ingredients, they became a staple when I was in the pregnancy homestretch with son #4.

While that was awhile ago now, these herbed butter noodles have withstood the test of time.

The butter coats the noodles perfectly while the herbs add just enough flavor without making things complicated.

This is the kind of dish that pairs with almost anything and pleases almost everyone.

Tender noodles coated in buttery sauce full of dill, thyme, and garlic for a touch of pizzazz.

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Noodles– I’m using uncooked egg noodles because I often have these in stock but you could use any shorter, thicker noodle like penne or rotini if that’s what you have.
  • Butter– Salted or unsalted. Whatever you have!
  • Garlic– Minced. If you don’t have fresh or jarred minced garlic, you can substitute garlic powder.
  • Herbs– Dried dill weed and dried thyme
  • Salt– To taste

  1. Hmm, egg noodles in butter garlic sauce with dill and thyme? I would never let this pass. I’d be first on the line, so please give me a plate of this now. Demanding much, eh? I am co-hosting with Selma, so I am excused. :D Happy FF to you and I hope you enjoy the party!

  2. When my son was small, I used to often wonder how my mum managed without pasta – we never had any until we came to Canada and I had a Kraft dinner at a friends one night…but even then we never really had it at home. For me it has been a real life saver especially on those busy nights when there have been after school activities and homework and someone dropping by…hot pasta, pesto, creme fraiche, cherry tomatoes, broccoli and some left over chicken and dinner is ready in about 15 minutes!! I love the idea of your buttered noodles though and it sounds very appealing right now!
