White Castle Sliders Casserole
This White Castle sliders casserole is the perfect dinner for fans of the classic fast food chain. Featuring all the flavors from the classic burgers, this casserole will satisfy all your White Castle cravings.
My boys and I love White Castle.
Unfortunately, there’s not one anywhere near us.
But we go anytime we travel somewhere that has one.
Unfortunately, we get cravings for the little slider style burgers from time to time.
With no White Castle within a reasonable drive, I decided it was time to make a dish that has all the flavors of the classic burgers.
Ingredients
To make this burger casserole you’ll need:
- Ground beef– Use lean ground beef. You don’t want to use beef that is too greasy or the bottom layer of your casserole dough will get greasy.
- Onion soup mix– 2 packets of your favorite kind
- Crescent rolls– The refrigerated kind in a tube
- Cheese– American will give you the most authentic flavor. You can substitute cheddar if needed.
- Pickles– Chopped dill pickles
How to Make
This casserole is pretty easy to make!
Just spray a 9×13″ baking dish with nonstick spray and set it aside.
Brown the beef and onion soup packets in a large skillet set over medium heat.
As you cook the meat, break it up and stir.
After the meat is cooked, strain off all the excess grease.
Open one of the tubes of dough, unroll it, and lay it flat in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Once it is unrolled, press the seams together to seal them.
Then, gently press the crescent roll dough out to cover the entire bottom of the dish.
Spread the ground beef out in the dish in an even layer that covers the crescent roll dough.
Top the ground beef with cheese slices and sprinkle the chopped pickles evenly out over top.
Open the remaining can of dough, unroll it, and lay it flat over the center top of the dish.
Pinch the seams together and gently stretch the dough out as needed to cover the entire dish.
Bake the casserole at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the crescent roll crust is a nice golden brown.
Carefully remove the casserole from the oven, and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
Using a sharp knife cut into 9 squares and serve with your favorite condiments.
Enjoy!
Condiment Ideas
You can serve this White Castle sliders casserole with any of your favorite toppings.
Some ideas for toppings include:
- chopped lettuce
- diced onions
- mustard
- ketchup
- barbecue sauce
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers tightly wrapped in foil in the baking dish in the fridge or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat the leftovers in a hot oven until cooked through.
Tips and Tricks
- The more grease you can get out of your cooked ground beef, the less likely the bottom layer of dough is to get soggy during baking. Lean ground beef will have less fat to render to begin with, which is why I suggest using it. You can also press the cooked beef against the edges of a strainer to release any trapped grease.
- I recommend at least 9 cheese slices to cover the entire ground beef mixture evenly. We will sometimes also put two extra down the center, for an extra cheesy surprise.
- Pair these with a soda and crinkle cut fries for the classic White Castle fast food experience at home.

recipe adapted from Love Bakes Good Cakes
Our family moved out West from St Louis and miss “whitey’s”. This recipe brings back some great memories, the flavor is spot on! This is easy to make with just a little prep Mine didn’t stay together too well and was very crumbly. The next time, I may only use half the ground beef or oven bake the ground beef in a sheet pan with the onion soup. If you can buy crescent sheets instead of precut rolls, that’ll save time and cuss words.
