Pixie sticks aka kiddie crack.
I can’t even tell you how many of these sugar high inducing treats I downed as a kid.
My own kids love them just as much as I do so when it came time to make homemade pixie sticks with only 2 ingredients, they were more than happy to jump in and help!
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Kool-Aid packets– Use the flavor or flavors of your choice!
- Sugar– Granulated
You’ll also need some paper straws and a glue gun.
How to Make your Own Pixie Sticks
This is the easiest recipe ever!
To make your own homemade pixie sticks, add 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and the Kool-Aid dry mix to a ziplocking sandwich bag.
Shake the bag well until the sugar and Kool-Aid is evenly combined.
Hot glue the bottoms of the straws closed by adding one dot of glue and then firmly pressing both sides together.
Once you’ve glued the bottom of the straws together, cut a small hole in the corner of your baggie and fill each straw up until about a 1/2 inch from the top.
After you have filled one straw, hot glue the other end.
Repeat with all the straws.
Dole em out to the kids, watch them enjoy, and maybe even sneak one or two yourself!
How many pixie sticks does this make?
Each baggie will fill about 12 straws.
Tips and Tricks
- They aren’t quite as pretty as the ones you can fill up at the candy store but these taste better!
- I used a pair of scissors to press the hot glued ends of the straw together by gently pressing the scissors down on the straw against my counter top.
- This recipe easily doubles or triples so you can make a bunch of them!
