To make these you’ll need:

  • Maraschino cherries– As many as you like. Remove the stems if they have stems on.
  • Vanilla ice cream– Let it soften up a bit on the counter first so it’s easier to scoop.

Red wine ice cream floats are so easy to make.

Just scoop about 3 generous scoops of ice cream per glass up and leave them in the cartoon.

Pop the cartoon into the freezer to let the ice cream scoops firm back up.

When the scoops are firm add 3-4 maraschino cherries to the bottom of a large glass.

Add two large scoops of the ice cream to the glass.

Storing

Tips and Tricks

  • I like to pull the ice cream out to soften when I am cooking dinner and then scoop the ice cream scoops just before serving. Then I pop the container in the freezer to let the scoops refreeze while we eat and clean up.
  • Use whatever sparkling red wine you like. I don’t recommend sparkling white wine.
  • You could use chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla ice cream for a twist.
  • While you can use any glass you’d like, I wouldn’t serve these in a stemmed wine glass. A glass you’d serve milkshakes in would be better.
