- 6 maraschino cherries
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
- sparkling red wine chilled
Let the ice cream soften. Scoop several generous scoops of ice cream onto a paper plate, (you'll want roughly 3 scoops per glass) then return them to the freezer for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
1 pint vanilla ice cream
Add about 3-4 maraschino cherries to the bottom of a large glass.
6 maraschino cherries
Add two large scoops of the ice cream to the glass. Top the ice cream with 3 more cherries.
Fill the glass up with red wine about an inch from the top. Stick a straw in the drink and top with another scoop of ice cream.
sparkling red wine
If you want to add a bit of fun color, sprinkle with red sugar sprinkles. Repeat, as needed, if making more than 1 cocktail.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
- I like to pull the ice cream out to soften when I am cooking dinner and then scoop the ice cream scoops just before serving. Then I pop the container in the freezer to let the scoops refreeze while we eat and clean up.
- Use whatever sparkling red wine you like. I don't recommend sparkling white wine.
- You could use chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla ice cream for a twist.
- While you can use any glass you'd like, I wouldn't serve these in a stemmed wine glass. A glass you'd serve milkshakes in would be better.
