These spooky moonlit pumpkin patch pudding snacks are easy to make, absolutely delicious, and a fun way to get everyone excited for Halloween.
Whether as an afternoon treat, a classroom party surprise, or for dessert after dinner- these pudding cups are perfect for ghouls and goblins of any age to enjoy!

Ingredients Needed
Only a handful of easy to find ingredients are required to whip up these Halloween pudding cups.
You’ll need:
- Pudding – Chocolate pudding cups, any variety. You can use sugar free ones to cut down on the sweetness, if preferred.
- Oreos – Classic oreo cookies
- Pumpkins – Mellowcreme candy pumpkins, usually found with the seasonal snacks and candies
- Frosting – Green cookie icing, can be found in the baking aisle with the sprinkles
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients you’re ready to begin!

How To Make
Sometimes festive treats can require a lot of work to pull together. Luckily that’s not the case with these.
Start by deciding if you’re going to make these using the packaged pudding cups or if you want to make them in a small dish.
If making them in the pudding cups, just open them and set aside. If using dishes, transfer the pudding to small clear bowls or glasses.
Gently twist the oreo cookies to open them. Separate the halves into two different piles, one for the ‘moons’ where the cream circle is intact and another for the plain cookie halves.
Using a food processor, or blender, pulse the plain cookie halves until the crumbs resemble fine dirt. Spoon the ‘dirt’ on top of the pudding until the cup or dish is ‘full’.
Out of the half moon pile, pick the cookies with the best preserve cream circles for your moons. Add one to the back of each dish, pushing it in just far enough for it remain standing by itself.
Add a couple pumpkin candies to the dirt in front of the cookie moons. Don’t overcrowd your pudding cup or dish though.
Cut the tip off the frosting and pipe a few frosting ‘vines’ to connect your pumpkins.
Serve immediately and enjoy!

Storing
Unfortunately prepared moonlit pumpkin patch pudding snacks don’t store well. The longer they sit the cookies will absorb moisture from the pumpkins and get soggy.
I recommend only preparing as many as you think you’ll need, then storing any extras of all the different components separately to make another batch later.

Tips & Tricks
- Making these for young children or for a school/room snack? For less mess make them right in the plastic container the pudding comes in! They’re still super cute, but create less mess to deal with and perfect for little hands.
- Don’t want to load the kids up on too much sugar? Use a ‘sugar free’ chocolate pudding instead.
- If you have extra ingredients, store them separately and then make another batch of Halloween pudding snacks when ready to enjoy them again.
