And they are so easy to make, no cookie cutting required!

All you need is a mini muffin tin and you are good to go.

Press the cookie dough into the tins, bake them, let them cool, and then have the kids fill and decorate them!

It’s a sweet treat for the entire family!

Ingredients

To make these sugar cookie cups you only need sugar cookie dough.

You can use your favorite sugar recipe, the refrigerated kind in the tube or a batch of dry mix made to the package instructions.

How to Make

Making homemade sugar cookie cups is so easy!

Just make roughly 1″ balls out of the cookie dough.

Press one ball into the well of a mini muffin tin, using a spoon or rounded tablespoons to press down in the center of the cookie dough to make a crater in the middle of the dough.

Repeat this with all of the dough balls.

Bake the cookie cups at 375 degrees for about 9 minutes or until the cookies are set and lightly golden around the edges.

Take the muffin tin out of the oven and press down again with your tablespoon to help the cups keep their shape.

Let the cups rest for 5 minutes in the tin before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Sugar Cookie Cups Filling Ideas

Sugar cookies cups are so extra fun because they are yummy, edible cups begging you to stuff them full of your favorite sweets.

Ideas for fillings include:

  • buttercream
  • chopped berries
  • pudding
  • mini scoops of ice cream
  • peanut butter
  • candies like mini M&M’s
  • sprinkles

Storing

You can store them, unfilled, in a cookie tin on your counter for about a week.

Some fillings, like pudding, don’t store well because they will turn the cookies soggy.

Because of this, I suggest filling the cups just prior to serving them.

Tips and Tricks

  • It’s ok if the center of the cups is a little underdone. You just don’t want them to be “doughy.”
  • Pressing your spoon into the cooked cup while it’s still hot will put the shape back into the cookies if they’ve puffed at all during the baking process.
  • Don’t fill them until they are cooled and you are ready to serve them!
