I hate when I plan to make a dinner and forget an ingredient.

Like a packet of fajita seasoning if I plan on fajitas, which to be honest are part of our regular rotation in one form or another.

But do I let that stop me?

Oh no!

I forge ahead full force and make this homemade fajita seasoning instead!

It’s exactly what you should use if there is no fajita seasoning and fajitas are on your menu.

What’s in fajita seasoning?

Fajita seasoning is just a blend of salt with spices that are associated with Tex Mex cooking like chili powder and cumin.

Recipes to Use Fajita Seasoning

Obviously you can use this on any fajita recipe!

It works very well in place of the packet of seasoning in:

Tips and Tricks

  • I use American chili powder. Chili powder’s flavor will vary slightly based on where it’s from.
  • Make sure you are using good quality spices for best flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute regular paprika for smoked paprika if you prefer, though you do loose that smoky flavor.
  • Fine sea salt is my favorite in this recipe though you can use any fine salt you have. If you use coarse salt, you may find this is too salty.
