Homemade Fajita Seasoning
Homemade fajita seasoning will take your fajitas to the next level and save you when you forget to buy a packet at the store! This blend of spices has the bold flavors you’d expect from fajitas with only a few spice rack staples.
I hate when I plan to make a dinner and forget an ingredient.
Like a packet of fajita seasoning if I plan on fajitas, which to be honest are part of our regular rotation in one form or another.
But do I let that stop me?
Oh no!
I forge ahead full force and make this homemade fajita seasoning instead!
It’s exactly what you should use if there is no fajita seasoning and fajitas are on your menu.
What’s in fajita seasoning?
Fajita seasoning is just a blend of salt with spices that are associated with Tex Mex cooking like chili powder and cumin.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Seasoning– Chili powder, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, and cumin
- Salt– Any non coarse salt
How to Make
Homemade fajita seasoning is so easy to make!
Just stir all the spices together in a small bowl to combine.
Use it or transfer it to a sealed jar or spice container.
Storing
Store this in a sealed jar or spice container in your pantry for about a month.
Recipes to Use Fajita Seasoning
Obviously you can use this on any fajita recipe!
It works very well in place of the packet of seasoning in:
- Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
- Texas Fajitas
- Grilled Chicken Fajita Foil Packets
- Fajita pasta
- Sheet pan chicken fajitas
Tips and Tricks
- I use American chili powder. Chili powder’s flavor will vary slightly based on where it’s from.
- Make sure you are using good quality spices for best flavor.
- Feel free to substitute regular paprika for smoked paprika if you prefer, though you do loose that smoky flavor.
- Fine sea salt is my favorite in this recipe though you can use any fine salt you have. If you use coarse salt, you may find this is too salty.
Other Homemade Seasoning Blends
Homemade fajita seasoning will save you if you forget to buy a packet of fajita seasoning.
Make it and use it in place of store bought in all your favorite Tex Mex recipes!
