Copycat Rice A Roni
Copycat Rice A Roni is the MVP of the dinner table whenever you need a simple, savory rice side dish. With only 3 ingredients, this can be on the table with almost no prep and pairs well with almost any main!
I love a good rice side dish.
Not plain rice of course.
It needs a little something something.
And Rice A Roni can be pricy or sometimes just down right hard to find.
But with my 3 ingredient souper rice, copycat Rice A Roni in almost any variety imaginable can be on your table in a snap!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Rice– A long grain rice like basmati or jasmine
- Cream of chicken soup– a 10.75 ounce can.
- Chicken broth– Do not use bone broth or stock in this. The flavor is much too strong.
How to Make
To make this easy copycat Rice A Roni, just whisk together the cream of chicken soup and chicken broth in a medium sized pot.
Then, stir in the rice.
Let the mixture come to a boil, and then reduce the heat so it just simmers.
Simmer the mixture for 10 to 12 minutes.
After 10 to 12 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and stir the rice.
Let the rice sit for another 5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
Does Rice A Roni use long grain rice?
Yes. They use long grain white rice.
Some varieties may mix in white pastas as well.
What About The Vermicelli?
If you want the pasta included with your rice a roni- break roughly 2 ounces (about 1/2 cup) of vermicelli or spaghetti noodles into 1/2 inch pieces.
Add them with the rice, and follow the same cooking instructions.
Rice A Roni Seasonings
If you don’t mind a few extra ingredients, you can easily doctor this rice dish to be a 100% copy cat of the original.
To do so- add a 1/4 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder, & a pinch of ground turmeric.
Also stir in 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers of copycat chicken Rice A Roni in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

You can serve this with any of your favorite mains like:
You could also make it a meal in and of itself by stirring in some steamed broccoli and rotisserie chicken!
Tips and Tricks
- DO NOT use bone broth in this recipe, the flavor is too strong.
- You can switch up the cream of soups in this. We also love using : cream of mushroom, cream of broccoli, cream of cheddar, cream of celery, cream of onion, and cream of bacon.
- Vegetarian? Sub vegetable broth and a vegetarian friendly cream of soup.
- The recipe can easily be doubled if needed.

Copycat Rice A Roni Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup long grain rice basmati or jasmine, recommended
- 1 10.75 oz can cream of soup we used cream of chicken
- 1 14.5 oz can chicken broth
Instructions
- Add both the cream of soup and the broth to a medium sized pot, whisking together until evenly combined. Stir in the rice.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to just a simmer. Cover and, stirring occasionally, let the rice simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- Remove the pot from heat. Stir, recover the pot, and let the rice sit for another 5 minutes.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork & serve.
