Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
Air fryer chicken fajitas are a tasty, quick way to enjoy your favorite Mexican meal right at home. Perfectly cooked, seasoned chicken with a colorful medley of peppers and onions makes for a satisfying dinner in under half an hour!
We love going out for Mexican food, but with a family of 4 boys it gets expensive real quick.
Plus, it’s just not the healthiest choice we can make because, let’s be honest, who can refuse all the refills of chips and salsa?
Not me!
But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy one of our favorite Mexican meals quickly and easily right at home for a fraction of the cost.
These air fryer chicken fajitas have all the same flavors as the restaurant version and our ready in under half an hour!
Can’t be that!
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Chicken breasts– Trimmed of fat and sliced into even thin strips.
- Peppers– Yellow, orange, red, and green bell peppers all seeded and thinly sliced.
- Onion– A large yellow onion thinly sliced.
- Oil– Olive oil is best.
- Fajita seasoning– A 1.27 ounce packet of dry fajita seasoning.
How to Make Chicken Fajitas in the Air Fryer
These air fryer chicken fajitas are so delightfully easy that the hardest part is slicing up the veggies.
To make them, add the trimmed, sliced chicken and prepared veggies to a large mixing bowl.
Toss the veggies with the olive oil and the seasoning until they are evenly coated.
Spread the mixture out into a single layer in the basket of your air fryer, being careful not to overcrowd.
Air fry the chicken fajitas at 390 for 12-14 minutes.
Repeat with a second batch if needed.
Serve warm with flour tortillas and your favorite toppings.
Enjoy!
Topping Ideas
Part of the fun of chicken fajitas is loading them up with all the toppings.
Our favorites include:
- salsa
- sour cream
- guacamole
- pico de gallo
- fresh cilantro
- a squeeze of lime
- shredded cheddar cheese
Storing Leftovers
These leftovers store beautifully in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat them in the air fryer until warmed through or just pop them in the microwave to warm them up.
Tips and Tricks
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. You want there to be some space between the food so the air can circulate.
- You can use a homemade blend of taco or fajita seasonings if you prefer.
- To make prep super easy, you can buy pre cut fajita veggies in the fresh produce section of some grocery stores. I would buy about 20 ounces of veggies (often 2 containers) to substitute to for the peppers and onion.
