This chili cheese dog dip ring will have your squad as excited for snack time as they are about kickoff.
No matter who you root for, this appetizer is something you will definitely want on your game day menu!
It combines all of the flavors of a classic chili cheese dog in a dunkable, almost fondue form.
A ring of mini pigs in a blanket surrounds a pool of creamy, cheesy chili dip.

The whole ring of goodness is cooked together making for a pull apart situation of crescent dough wrapped cocktail weenies.
Use a fork, use your fingers, there is no shame in digging into this dish.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:

- Crescent dough– 1 package of the canned crescent dough you can find in the refrigerated food sections
- Cocktail wieners– A package of Lil Smokies, etc.
- Olive oil– Another light colored oil would also work. The brush of oil on the outside will help the crescent rolls brown up to flaky golden perfection when baked.
- Cream cheese– Softened to room temperature
- Chili– A can of chili without beans
- Cheese– Shredded cheddar
- Green onions– Thinly sliced
How to Make
Making an appetizer as decadent and delicious as this chili cheese dog dip ring is actually very easy!
Just open and unroll the crescent dough onto a cutting board.

Use a sharp knife to cut each triangle into three separate pieces.
Wrap a slice of dough tightly around each cocktail wiener.

Set each pig in a blanket side-by-side against the outer edge of a medium cast iron skillet, forming a wreath, until you can’t fit anymore.
Brush the top of each one lightly with olive oil.

Then stir the cream cheese, chili, and cheddar cheese together in a small bowl.
Scoop the mixture into the cast iron skillet in the center of wreath.
Sprinkle the top of the dip with extra cheese.

Bake the dip 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dip is bubbly.
When the dip is hot, take it out of the oven and let it rest for five minutes.
Sprinkle the dish with thinly sliced scallions and enjoy.

Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers tightly wrapped in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat the dip in a hot oven until warmed through.

Tips and Tricks
- You can use any kind of chili you like even if it is the kind with beans. If you have leftover homemade chili, you could also use 2 scant cups of that instead.
- Softening the cream cheese to room temperature will help the dip mix together easier.
- Serve it with extra tortilla chips for dipping.

The BEST Chili Cheese Dip – This long time family favorite recipe has only 5 ingredients and is heated in the microwave for 5 minutes.
Oh my yum….so glad you shared this with Sue for her roundup. I love this recipe.
Thanks, Wendy! It’s perfect for parties and makes great game day grub.
We tried this and it wasnโt as good as your photo. The dough was raw where it touched the dip, despite being in the oven 25 minutes.
Oh no! I’m so sorry- not sure what happened. It’s one of our favorites, and I haven’t experienced that problem.
What a clever idea! I will be making this soon for some festive situation. Thanks for the great idea and recipe.
