My favorite part about going out and getting bagels from the bagel shop for breakfast is the fancy, flavored cream cheese.

It’s so much better than anything you could get in the store.

I love this savory herbed cream cheese spread, but sometimes I want a sweet fancy cream cheese.

With my easy strawberry cream cheese recipe, you get that fancy bagel shop cream cheese right at home quickly and easily.

The result is a decadent spread that tastes as if you are smearing strawberry cheesecake onto your toast and bagels.

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

  • Strawberries– If you can, use fresh strawberries. Wash them and remove the hulls. This huller makes it easy!
  • Sugar– Granulated
  • Cream cheese– Soften it by letting it come to room temperature on your counter prior to making this.

How to Make

Making this strawberry cream cheese is pretty simple!

Just add the hulled strawberries to a strainer basket and sprinkle the sugar evenly out overtop of the berries.

Let the berries rest for 15-20 minutes to draw out the juices.

After the berries have had a chance to sit, transfer the fruit to a mixing bowl and mash them slightly.

Add the softened cream cheese to another mixing bowl and whip it with a hand mixer until the cream cheese is smooth.

Mix the mashed berries into the cream cheese just until they are incorporated.

Refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve and enjoy!

What to Serve with Strawberry Cream Cheese

Of course this is delicious spread on bagels, toast, or even waffles, but you can also use it as a dip for:

  • Nilla wafers
  • graham crackers
  • fruit
  • pretzel sticks

Just let it soften on your counter prior to using it as a dip.

Storing

Store homemade strawberry cream cheese in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you want even more strawberry flavor you can mix in 1-2 teaspoons of strawberry extract.
  • For a strawberry cheesecake flavor, add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
  • If you prefer a mixture without fruit pieces, set a bowl under the strainer. Instead of adding the strawberry pieces, mix in the collected juice.
  • You can use frozen strawberries to make this but you’ll want to make sure they’re thawed completely, otherwise the cream cheese will be too thin from the excess moisture.
