How to Make
Making cauldron brownies is a fun activity to get younger Harry Potter fans involved in!
To do it melt the chocolate in the microwave, microwaving it in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments.
Stir the chocolate after each increment, until melted and smooth.
Set aside the melted chocolate.
Then whisk together the oil, brown sugar, and sugar until smooth.
Stir in the melted chocolate.
Then beat in the egg, vanilla, and salt.
Fold in the flour just until no dry streaks remain.
Then fold in the mini chocolate chips.
Scoop the mixture evenly between the 24 cavities in a mini muffin pan you’ve sprayed with nonstick spray.
Bake them in a 350 degree oven for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let them cool for at least 20 minutes before running a butter knife around the edges to release them from the pan.
Once the brownies are cool make the icing by beating the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and 1 tablespoon of cream together with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth.
Divide the mixture in half.
Mix in the cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon of cream, adding additional cream as needed for consistency.
Scoop the chocolate frosting into a piping bag or a ziplocking bag with one end snipped off.
Divide the other half in half again.
Dye one half one color like purple and the other half another color like green.
Put each color frosting in it’s own piping bag.
Pipe a ring of chocolate frosting along the top of each brownie.
Use the colors to pipe little spots in the center, set aside.
Pipe U shaped “handles” for the cauldrons.
Chill them in the fridge to set for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, push into the sides of each cauldron.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing
Put any leftover cauldron cakes in an airtight container in the fridge and store them for up to a week.
