Nothing says Christmas quite like Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes.
The snack is insanely popular for good reason.
Not only are the tree shaped cakes cute as a button but they are full of really moist yellow cake, a mountain of fluffy vanilla frosting and all coated in a soft candy coating.
So good.
Of course I love snacking on them, but I also love turning them into other treats like Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Dip.
And these Christmas tree cake ball truffles will make you so glad that I have this obsession!
These truffles are so delicious and the perfect thing to gift to fans of the popular treats.
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes– Two boxes (10) cakes. Use either the vanilla kind or the chocolate kind.
- Cream cheese– Softened to room temperature
- Almond Bark – This vanilla flavored candy coating is available in the baking section of most grocery stores. Buy the white almond bark.
- Candy melts– Red ones.
- Sprinkles– Green sugar sprinkles but any festive Christmas sprinkles would work!
How to Make
These Little Debbie Christmas Tree truffles are fairly simple to make.
Start by whipping the cream cheese in a large bowl with an electric mixer until it is fluffy.
Add the cakes to the cream cheese mixture and mix with mixer until all combined.
Then line a tray with parchment paper and use a cookie scoop to scoop out 24 equal sized portions.
Roll them all into balls.
Put the balls in the freezer to chill for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
Once the truffles have set and chilled, melt the white almond bark in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second intervals until smooth and melted, stirring between each increment.
Using 2 forks dip the truffles into the almond bark, gently shaking off the excess and place them back onto the parchment lined tray.
Immediately sprinkle with the green sprinkles while the truffles are still wet.
Then, in a microwave safe bowl, melt the red candy melts in 30 second intervals until smooth and melted, again stirring between each increment.
Place the melted red candy melts into a ziplocking bag and snip of a tiny bit of the corner.
Drizzle the red chocolate over the truffles and set aside to set or place into the refrigerator for 10 minutes to let the candy melts firm up.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing
Store the Christmas tree truffles in a single layer in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
If you need to layer them on top of each other, put pieces of wax paper between each layer.
Can I freeze Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Balls?
Yes! These freeze beautifully!
Just put the set truffles into a ziplocking freezer safe bag or an airtight freezer safe container and freeze them for 3 to 6 months.
Enjoy them frozen or thaw them in the fridge prior to enjoying!
How to Gift Them
If you plan to gift these, I recommend lining a pretty Christmas tin with wax paper and putting the candy inside in a single layer.
Put the top on the tin and refrigerate it until you gift them.
