Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes
Cheeseburger sloppy joes are a yummy mash up of two classic sandwiches. Ground beef gets seasoned with all the best burger flavors for an easy, kid friendly variation on the traditional dish.
We love both cheeseburgers and sloppy joes in this house.
What’s better than a messy saucy sandwich absolutely packed with boldly flavored ground beef?
Nothing.
We’re talking the ultimate in kid friendly comfort food.
And to tell you the truth, I actually prefer scratching my kids’ cheeseburger itch with this cheeseburger sloppy joe recipe instead of the real deal.
It’s easier to make since I don’t have to form the beef into patties and only takes a few minutes to get a hearty stick to your ribs meal on the table.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Ground beef– Use a leaner ground beef so you don’t cook too much off.
- Onion– A small white onion, diced.
- Seasonings– Salt and pepper, minced garlic, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce
- Burger sauces– Ketchup, mustard, and relish
- Sandwich fixings– Burger buns and sliced American cheese
How to Make
Making cheeseburger sloppy joes is just as easy making a regular sloppy joe.
Just, add the beef and onion to a large skillet set over medium high heat and season it with salt and pepper, to taste.
Cook the beef, breaking it up and stirring, until all the beef’s brown throughout.
Strain off the excess grease.
Return the skillet to heat, add the garlic to the beef, and stir to combine.
Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the garlic is fragrant.
Stir the remaining ingredients into the skillet.
Once they are evenly combined, reduce the heat to medium low and allow the mixture to simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Open buns and add a slice of cheese to each bottom bun.
Divide the sloppy joe filling evenly out between all the sandwiches.
Add the top buns to close.
Serve and enjoy!
