Let’s talk comfort food shall we?
Near the top of my list is pasta.
Followed by cheese.
This dish has all of that in spades.
Plus not only does it have cheesy tortellini but it has a cheesy alfredo style sauce and sweet and savory pieces of ham throughout.
Talk about a hearty, stick to your ribs dinner!
Perfect for cold winter days and hungry, growing boys!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Tortellini– An 8 ounce package of your favorite kind of cheese tortellini
- Ham– This is a perfect use for leftover holiday ham! You could also use a ham steak or Virginia style ham.
- Cream cheese– Full fat, softened and cubed.
- Dry Italian dressing– A packet of Good Seasons or a similar dressing mix
- Cream of chicken soup– You could substitute for cream of mushroom, celery, broccoli, whatever!
- Milk– Go for whole milk for the creamiest results
- Butter
How to Make
To make this tortellini alfredo with ham, add the pasta to a large pot of boiling salted water and let the tortellini cook until they’re all floating.
While the tortellini cooks, heat a large sauce pan over medium heat.
When the pan is warm, add the cream cheese, butter, soup, Italian dressing, and milk and stir, continuing until the ingredients have come together and the sauce is smooth.
Once the sauce is smooth, stir in the ham.
When the tortellini is done, drain them, and then stir them into the Alfredo sauce, gently just until they’re completely coated.
Serve warm.
Enjoy!
Can I add peas to this tortellini alfredo?
Yes!
Turn this into tortellini with ham and peas by stirring in a cup of frozen, thawed sweet peas to the sauce and letting them warm through.
Storing Leftovers

Hi i Really souls like to tyr Theis recipe.. but I’m from Denmark.. how does this Italian dressing looks like.. and how does this 1 can cream of chicken soup looks like or what is it.. 🙈
It is sold near the salad dressings, in packets. It’s a dry mix in packets to mix up your own. The cream of soup is in the soup aisle and it’s a condensed soup. Hope that helps!
“Fettuccine alfredo are not a thing in Italy,”
In the US it has become a staple in many restaurants that brand themselves Italian.
In Italy, the dish is most similar to what Italians call pasta burro e parmiggiano (pasta with butter and parmesan cheese).
in Italy, this way of making pasta is often referred to as pasta del cornuto – which translates as “cuckold’s pasta”
The even more popular way of serving pasta alfredo in the US – with chicken – is beyond imaginable.
It is not just poultry and pasta that are not allowed to mix – meat and pasta very rarely make it on to the same plate. Pasta is one course (primo) and meat is another, fully separate course (secondo).
