Creamy Pea Salad With Bacon

Crunchy bacon and pea salad is a creamy but crunchy side salad. With its combination of cubed cheddar, green peas, and crisp pieces of bacon in a savory sauce, it’s a shoe in for your new favorite side dish!

Barbecue and picnic season is fast approaching.

I have a few go to side dishes for any barbecue, grill-out get together.

We’re talking family style dishes that make a perfect addition to  any function we’re hosting or get invited to.

While a pasta-based salad may be more traditional, this pea salad doesn’t disappoint.

It’s a cool twist on an old classic, with a great crunch from both the peas and the crispy bacon bits and creamy sharp blocks of cheddar dotted throughout.

Crisp cooked peas replace traditional pasta in this savory side salad.

Tossed with crunchy bacon and cubes of rich cheddar cheese, nothing is missing form this yummy side salad.

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

  • Peas– Frozen peas thawed.
  • Bacon– Cooked crisp and crumbled
  • Red onion– Diced
  • Cheddar cheese– Cut into small cubes
  • Mayonnaise– Real, full fat mayo and not mayonnaise style dressing or Miracle Whip.
  • Vinegar– White
  • Sugar– Granulated
  • Seasonings– Salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce

How to Make

Making this crunchy, creamy bacon and pea salad is so easy!

Just whisk together the mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and soy sauce in large bowl.

Then, stir in the peas, bacon, onion, and cheese until everything’s evenly combined.

Chill for at least one hour before serving.

Enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Enjoy the leftovers cold straight out of the fridge!

Absolutely!

This bacon and pea salad holds up beautifully if you make it up to a day ahead of time.

Tips and Tricks

  • Want to make it even meatier? Add some cubed cooked ham as well.
  • Give it a taste and make sure it is seasoned to your liking.
  • Don’t skip the chill time. This time really lets all the flavors come together.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups frozen peas thawed
  • 1 lb bacon cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup red onion diced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/8 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup small cheddar cheese cubes

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, & soy sauce.
    1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 tbsp + 1 tsp white vinegar, 1 tsp sugar, salt & pepper, 1/8 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/8 tsp soy sauce
  • Add in the peas, bacon, onion, and cheese. Gently toss until everything's evenly combined.
    2-3 cups frozen peas, 1 lb bacon, 1/4 cup red onion, 1/2 cup small cheddar cheese cubes
  • Chill for at least one hour before serving.

    No need to change a thing. I garnished with sliced hard boiled eggs. Will be serving again for Easter Brunch with a ham and roasted small red potatoes. Meyer Lemon Cake for desert!!!
