Sweet Black Cherry Limeade

Sweet black cherry limeade is the perfect refreshing sip to beat the heat this summer. A fizzy base sets makes a cool background for a perfect blend of sweet cherries and a hint of lime!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 10 oz pkg frozen sweet dark cherries thawed, with juices reserved
  • 4 12 oz cans lime sparkling water chilled
  • fresh sliced lime for garnish (optional)
  • Ice for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • To a large pitcher, add the sugar, lime, and lemon juices. Whisk until everything's evenly combined.
    1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup fresh lime juice, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • Add the cherries and cherry juice from them thawing. Give everything a good stir then refrigerate the mixture for at least an hour, and up to two.
    1 10 oz pkg frozen sweet dark cherries
  • Remove the pitcher from the fridge, stir in the sparkling water just before serving.
    4 12 oz cans lime sparkling water
  • Fill serving glasses with ice. Pour the cherry limeade over the ice until just below full. Add a lime slice to the rim of each glass, if using, and serve immediately. 

Notes

  • While bottled lemon and lime juice are available, I highly recommend using fresh lemons and lime for this as the citrus is such a prominent flavor in this beverage.
  • Don't have lime sparkling water? Lime seltzer will also work. And in a real pinch you can use lemon lime soda, but I'd recommend a zero sugar variety so the limeade isn't too sweet.
  • You can adjust the amount of sugar to suit your tastes or even use a sugar alternative like Splenda if needed.
  • Want to turn this into an adult beverage? Add a splash of rum or vodka or even limoncello.
