Puppy Chow Truffles

Puppy chow truffles feature the flavors of the classic dessert snack mix in a decadent truffle. This homemade candy makes a perfect addition to any dessert table or a tasty homemade gift for any sweet tooth on your list.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups plain rice chex cereal
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Add chex to a food processor and pulse until small pieces
  • Add peanut butter, powdered sugar and vanilla and process until a paste forms
  • Chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes
  • Roll into 12 equal balls, then return to the fridge while you make the chocolate coating
  • Melt the chocolate chips and shortening in a small pan on lowest heat setting until smooth
  • Use a toothpick to dip each the 12 truffles in the chocolate, then allow to chill until chocolate is hardened (about 10-15 minutes)
  • Roll each truffle in powdered sugar and enjoy
