- 10 - 12 slices white bread
Arrange the bread slices on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer.

Bake at 250° for 50-60 minutes, just until the bread's a light golden brown and very, very dry. The bottom will brown more than the top, and the bread should be easy to snap into pieces.
Carefully remove the hot pan from the oven and allow the bread to cool completely.
Break the bread up and add it to the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Blend until it's small/fine crumbs.
- While this recipe is written with white bread, you can use this method for any variety of store bought sliced bread. You can also do it with very thinly sliced bakery bread.
- When the bread is ready to come out of the oven, you'll notice the bottom will be browner than the top and the bread will be dry enough to easily to break into pieces.
- Part of the beauty of making homemade bread crumbs is that you can customize them to your liking. You can process them just until they are coarse crumbs or season them with Italian seasoning or garlic powder or anything else you like.
- As written this recipe makes plain bread crumbs. If you need Italian, also known as seasoned, bread crumbs you can whisk in some Italian seasoning until evenly incorporated.
