- 12-16 oz. sourdough hard pretzels the pounder
- ⅔ cup vegetable oil
- 4 tbsp. honey
- 3 tbsp. yellow mustard
- 2 tsp. onion powder
Preheat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, honey, yellow mustard, and onion powder.
Smash the sourdough hard pretzels against your counter-top into bite-size pieces.
Pour the pretzels into the mixture and toss well to coat every piece.
Pour the pretzels onto the baking sheet and spread them out in an even layer.
Bake for 30 minutes, tossing/turning the pieces halfway through baking.
Remove from oven, let cool, then store in an airtight container.
- Make sure you use the over sized sourdough hard pretzels, and not the little tiny ones you're used to snacking on.
- Use a brand honey and yellow mustard you really like, because they create the base of the primary flavor that shines through.
- Taste test the sauce before adding the pretzels to it, if you want it more flavorful- add a pinch of garlic powder.
- Stir the pretzels and the sauce together well, making sure to toss them so every bit possible is coated in the honey mustard sauce.
- Make sure the pretzels are spread in an even, single layer before baking so each one gets nice and toasted without any moist pockets of sauce left behind.
