Ingredients

  • 12-16 oz. sourdough hard pretzels the pounder
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tbsp. honey
  • 3 tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp. onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, honey, yellow mustard, and onion powder.
  • Smash the sourdough hard pretzels against your counter-top into bite-size pieces.
  • Pour the pretzels into the mixture and toss well to coat every piece.
  • Pour the pretzels onto the baking sheet and spread them out in an even layer.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, tossing/turning the pieces halfway through baking.
  • Remove from oven, let cool, then store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Make sure you use the over sized sourdough hard pretzels, and not the little tiny ones you're used to snacking on.
  • Use a brand honey and yellow mustard you really like, because they create the base of the primary flavor that shines through.
  • Taste test the sauce before adding the pretzels to it, if you want it more flavorful- add a pinch of garlic powder.
  • Stir the pretzels and the sauce together well, making sure to toss them so every bit possible is coated in the honey mustard sauce.
  • Make sure the pretzels are spread in an even, single layer before baking so each one gets nice and toasted without any moist pockets of sauce left behind.
