Homemade Barbecue Rub

Homemade barbecue rub adds tons of flavor into just about any grilled or smoked meat! With a simple blend of spices, you'll never go back to using storebought rubs again.

Ingredients

  • ¼ Cup Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Coarse Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp Coarse Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    ¼ Cup Paprika, 1 tbsp Coarse Sea Salt, 1 tbsp Coarse Ground Black Pepper, 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder, 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • Whisk until no lumps remain and the ingredients are fully combined.
  • Store in an airtight container, at room temp, in a dry area, for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Add some heat with cayenne pepper and chili powder.
  • This recipe is the perfect amount to use on a rack of ribs.
  • A couple tablespoons of brown sugar will give you the sweet barbecue background.
  • You can adjust the amount of garlic and onion powder up or down to suit your tastes.
