Copycat Dan Dan Noodles (PF Chang's Recipe)

Copycat Dan Dan noodles are an at home version of the beloved PF Chang's dish. Fettuccine noodles get tossed with perfectly cooked ground chicken and tossed with a salty, slightly sweet sauce. Quick and easy for a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch + 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup hoisin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 lb fettuccine noodles
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Cucumber for serving, optional
  • bean sprouts for serving, optional
  • peanuts for serving, optional
  • green onions for serving, optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, cornstarch slurry, honey, hoisin, soy sauce, and sesame oil; set aside
  • Cook noodles according to package directions, drain and set aside
  • While noodles are cooking, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook, breaking it up into smaller pieces
  • Add the chicken broth mixture to the pan and bring to a boil, allowing it to simmer about 10 minutes, or until desired thickness is reached (you can add some more cornstarch if you want it even thicker)
  • Serve chicken with sauce over noodles with cucumber, beansprouts, peanuts and scallions if desired

Notes

  • You could substitute ground pork for the ground chicken.
  • Some versions of this recipe are spicier. If you want to add a little more zip to this you could add ground Sichuan peppercorns or a tablespoon or two of Sriracha or chili paste.
  • If you really want to go authentic, then you could try to use traditional Chinese wheat and egg noodles.
