Homemade Cheddar Bay Biscuits (Red Lobster Copycat)

Homemade Cheddar Bay biscuits are a spot on copycat of the buttery, cheesy Red Lobster biscuits. This recipes yields soft biscuits perfectly spiced with garlic powder and cheddar cheese for the classic restaurant taste right at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt divided
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 oz shredded mild cheddar cheese (2 cups)
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  • Microwave 1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter in a microwave safe bowl for 30-35 seconds- just until melted. Set aside.

  • Add the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to a mixing bowl, and stir together until evenly combined.

  • Add the melted butter and milk to the flour mixture and stir just until the dry ingredients are wet. Don't over mix!

  • Using a spatula, fold in the cheese.
    8 oz shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Bake at 450° 10-12 minutes, just until the biscuits have risen and are golden brown.
  • Melt the rest of the butter, then stir in the remaining salt and dried parsley. Brush the mixture evenly out over the biscuits.

  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • This recipe yields between 12-18 biscuits, depending on size.
  • Make sure you're u sing garlic powder, NOT garlic salt.
  • Don't overmix the biscuits. Overmixing will result in dense biscuits not the light fluffy ones you know and love.
