Smoked Hot Dogs

Smoked hot dogs turn the classic barbecue food into a real treat! Seasoning and mustard or barbecue sauce coat the meat and compliment their smoky flavor for the best hot dog you'll ever eat!

Ingredients

  • 8 quality hot dogs recommend Ball Park Prime
  • 4 tbsp yellow mustard or barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp barbecue rub
  • 8 hot dog buns

Instructions

  • Fill your smoker with your favorite wood chips, and preheat to 225°.
  • Score the hot dogs on both sides using a SlotDog tool. If you don't have one, you can also do this using a sharp paring knife to carefully cut x's into both sides of each hot dog to create a diamond pattern.

  • Add the hot dogs to an aluminum tin and top with mustard, then rub in so that all the hot dogs are well coated all over. Sprinkle the rub evenly out over top.
    4 tbsp yellow mustard, 1/2 tbsp barbecue rub
  • Smoke for 40-45 minutes.
  • Carefully add the hot hot dogs to buns, and serve with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Don't have a SlotDog tool? You can use a sharp paring knife to cut x's into both sides of the hot dogs to create a diamond pattern.
  • If you prefer a different kind of mustard you could use that instead of yellow mustard.
  • Quality hot dogs are key! Use whatever hot dog you think is the absolute best!
